The Rams are keeping 34-year-old assistant Nate Scheelhaase despite drawing offensive coordinator interest from multiple teams

The Los Angeles Rams have already lost multiple assistant coaches this offseason but Nate Scheelhaase isn’t going anywhere. The key 34-year-old offensive assistant is returning to the Rams despite drawing interest from the Jaguars and Buccaneers in their search for an offensive coordinator.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the news of Scheelhaase’s return to the Rams.

Scheelhaase just finished his first season with the Rams, which was also his first season in the NFL. He held the title of offensive assistant and pass game specialist for the Rams, working closely with Sean McVay and the other offensive coaches on the staff.

It’s unclear if the Rams gave Scheelhaase a promotion or a raise to keep him in Los Angeles, but he’ll be returning to McVay’s staff nonetheless. He’s a rising coach to watch next offseason for teams looking to hire an offensive coordinator.

Liam Coen and Jaguars interview Bucs OC target for same position

The latest chapter is the Bucs and Jaguars are looking for an offensive coordinator and they now have eyes on the same target.

The saga that is the Bucs and Liam Coen is never going to end at this rate it seems. Not that they are looking for it to keep going, but there are some fun new chapters being added to the book that is being written between these teams.

The latest chapter is the Bucs and Jaguars are looking for an offensive coordinator and they now have eyes on the same target. The target being Nate Scheelhaase, the Rams passing game specialist who both teams have now interviewed.

While both teams are looking at Scheelhaase, only one is offering playcalling duties. What could make a difference is Coen has confirmed he will be the one calling plays in Jacksonville, whereas Todd Bowles would add him to the staff to take on that responsibility.

Going to be interesting to see if Scheelhaase ends up with one of these teams or if he remains in Los Angeles.

Sean McVay is certainly proud to see Liam Coen get his first head coaching opportunity in the NFL after being hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars, but that could cause him to lose some of his own assistant coaches.

Coen and the Jaguars have already shown interest in Aubrey Pleasant for their defensive coordinator position, and now they’re eyeing Rams assistant Nate Scheelhaase for their offensive coordinator opening.

The Jaguars announced they interviewed Scheelhaase on Tuesday night, making him the latest candidate on Jacksonville’s radar.

Scheelhaase, 34, just finished his first season as an NFL coach, working as an offensive assistant and pass game specialist under McVay. He previously spent time at Illinois and Iowa State.

In addition to the Jaguars, the Buccaneers have also interviewed Scheelhaase for their offensive coordinator position, which Coen held last season.
