UFC 310 video: Dooho Choi TKOs Nate Landwehr on ground after throwing heat on feet

Unsurprisingly, UFC 310 combatants Dooho Choi and Nate Landwehr didn’t need all 15 minutes to determine a winner.

LAS VEGAS – Those familiar with [autotag]Dooho Choi[/autotag] and [autotag]Nate Landwehr[/autotag] didn’t expect a 15-minute fight Saturday at UFC 310 – and they did not get one.

In the UFC 310 main card opener, Choi (16-4-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) defeated Landwehr (18-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC) by ground-and-pound. The stoppage at T-Mobile Arena came at 3:21 of Round 3.

Choi came out throwing heat, and connected with big strikes, including a punch that dropped Landwehr approximately 30 seconds in. As the fight progressed, the difference in striking success narrowed. Choi then resorted to his wrestling as he slickly tossed Landwehr to the canvas on multiple occasions.

Eventually, he moved to crucifix and slowly pounded away. With Landwehr unable to escape, referee Chris Tognoni waved off the fight.

With the win, Choi has won two fights in a row. Landwehr falls to 1-2 in his most recent three.

Dooho Choi vs. Nate Landwehr prediction, pick, start time for UFC 310

All-action featherweights Dooho Choi and Nate Landwehr kick off the UFC 310 main card. Does either fighter have a clear path to victory?

[autotag]Dooho Choi[/autotag] and [autotag]Nate Landwehr[/autotag] meet Saturday in the UFC 310 main card opener at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Dooho Choi vs. Nate Landwehr UFC 310 preview

Choi (15-4-1 MMA, 4-3-1 UFC) will look to make it back-to-back wins in 2024. In July, “The Korean Superboy” enjoyed his first victory since 2016 by stopping Bill Algeo in the second round. It was a frustrating stretch for Choi, who went 0-3-1 from 2016-23, which included a Hall of Fame inducted fight against Cub Swanson. … Landwehr (18-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) also aims to win two straight this year. His first appearance was in March, where he stopped Jamall Emmers in the opening round to return to the win column. A decision loss vs. Dan Ige last June snapped a three-fight winning streak.

Dooho Choi vs. Nate Landwehr UFC 310 expert pick, prediction

Doing Joe Silva proud, the current UFC matchmaker smartly decided to open the paid portion of the card with a surefire action fight between featherweights, Landwehr and Choi.

To Choi’s credit, the Korean has made some marked strides to fight smarter since his return from military service. That said, I’m not sure Landweher’s style will allow for Choi to safely – even if he wanted to.

Ever since his days on the M-1 scene in Russa, Landwehr has always had a fan-friendly style that makes for entertaining fights.

Even though Landwehr tends to take damage early, the native of Tennessee almost appears to feed off the violence, getting stronger as the fight goes on.

The American will be tempting fate early against someone who keeps powerful counters on a hair-trigger like Choi, but I think he can steadily take the steering wheel if he’s able to get out of the first round.

The pick is Landwehr by club-and-sub in Round 2.

Dooho Choi vs. Nate Landwehr UFC 310 odds

The oddsmakers and the public are slightly favoring the American fighter, listing Landwehr -140 and Choi +115 via FanDuel.

Dooho Choi vs. Nate Landwehr UFC 310 start time, how to watch

As the main card opener, Choi and Landwehr are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 10:10 p.m. ET. The fight will stream on ESPN+.

Bryce Mitchell vs. Kron Gracie prediction, pick, start time for UFC 310

Will the high-level grappling matchup between Bryce Mitchell and Kron Gracie at UFC 310 end up a kickboxing affair?

[autotag]Bryce Mitchell[/autotag] and [autotag]Kron Gracie[/autotag] meet Saturday on the UFC 310 main card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Bryce Mitchell vs. Kron Gracie UFC 310 preview

Mitchell (16-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) returns to action for the first time since being on the receiving end of a brutal knockout by Josh Emmett at UFC 296 last year. “Thug Nasty” placed himself on a concussion protocol, and is now eager to get back to action. In the fight prior, Mitchell picked up a solid unanimous decision win over Dan Ige. … Gracie (5-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) enters this fight on a two-fight skid. He has not competed since May 2023, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Charles Jourdain, which came after a decision loss to Cub Swanson. Gracie’s last victory was a first-round submission of Alex Caceres in February 2019.

Bryce Mitchell vs. Kron Gracie UFC 310 expert pick, prediction

Despite having an important and entertaining featherweight matchup between Movsar Evloev and Aljamain Sterling being stuck on the prelims, the UFC matchmakers instead elected to go with a flat-earth special between Mitchell and Gracie.

I’m glad to see that Mitchell took the appropriate time off since suffering a vicious knockout to Josh Emmett last year. It’s also nice to see the promotion not pair Mitchell up with a prolific puncher in his return as well.

That said, it’s hard to know what to expect from Gracie given that this will be just his third appearance in half a decade.

Although part of me wonders aloud if Gracie could make us all look stupid by coming out this Saturday and submitting Mitchell with ease, another part of me suspects that Mitchell’s wrestling edge will be what ultimately decides the fight.

Whether we get a sloppy kickboxing match or stymying grapple-fest, the pick will be Mitchell by unanimous decision.

Bryce Mitchell vs. Kron Gracie UFC 310 odds

The oddsmakers and the public are heavily favoring the fighter from Arkansas, listing Mitchell -750 and Gracie +490 via FanDuel.

Bryce Mitchell vs. Kron Gracie UFC 310 start time, how to watch

As the second main card bout, Mitchell and Gracie are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 10:40 p.m. ET. The fight will stream on ESPN+.

Video: UFC 310 final faceoffs with Rakhmonov’s shove of Machado Garry and loaded lineup

The depth of the UFC 310 lineup was on display during final staredowns at Friday’s ceremonial weigh-ins.

LAS VEGAS – UFC 310 ceremonial weigh-ins took place Friday, and the fighters came face-to-face one final time before Saturday’s event.

Now, in the words of Jon Anik, “One more sleep.”

UFC 310 takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+). The event is headlined by flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja (28-5 MMA, 12-3 UFC) vs. Kai Asakura (21-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

Perhaps the most anticipated bout, however, is the co-main event: a five-round welterweight affair between [autotag]Ian Machado Garry[/autotag] (15-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) and [autotag]Shavkat Rakhmonov[/autotag] (18-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC). The two welterweights, along with the rest of the card, squared off Friday at T-Mobile Arena.

The main card is rounded out by a heavyweight clash between [autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] (12-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) and [autotag]Alexander Volkov[/autotag] (38-10 MMA, 6-3 UFC), as well as two featherweight matchups, [autotag]Dooho Choi[/autotag] (15-4-1 MMA, 4-3-1 UFC) vs. [autotag]Nate Landwehr[/autotag] (18-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC), and [autotag]Kron Gracie[/autotag] (5-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) vs. [autotag]Bryce Mitchell[/autotag] (16-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC).

Nate Landwehr: Dooho Choi has no choice but come along for the ride at UFC 310

Nate Landwehr didn’t have an easy early go of it when he first came to the UFC as an M-1 Global champion, but now he’s rolling.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Nate Landwehr[/autotag] didn’t have an easy early go of it when he first came to the UFC as an M-1 Global champion.

The 36-year-old American featherweight dropped two of his first three UFC fights by first-round knockout. It was a rather unceremonious start for a fighter considered a can’t-miss prospect when the UFC signed him.

But since those early stumbles, Landwehr is rolling with four wins in his past five fights, and all four of those victories came with post-fight bonus awards. His only setback in that stretch was a 2023 decision loss to Dan Ige, and the wins included three stoppages.

To say the confidence is booming for Landwehr (18-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) might be an understatement ahead of his fight against Dooho Choi (15-4-1 MMA, 4-3-1 UFC) on Saturday to open the UFC 310 (pay-per-view, ESPN2, ESPN+) main card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

And against Choi, he has an opponent who at one point in his heyday picked up five straight post-fight bonus awards. To put it mildly, the pieces all are in place for a banger – even if Landwehr tries to temper those expectations.

“I feel there’s going to be no choice, really,” he said at Wednesday’s media day. “We’re going to go in there, we’re going to battle, and I’m going to put that gas on the full throttle and either he’s got to come with me or get left behind.

“Expectations are bad for the mind. I’m just going to go in there and do my thing and if it becomes great, all we’re going to have is moments on video – so I hope it’s watchable.”

With Landwehr and Choi, their very nature typically is kill-or-be-killed. And while Landwehr acknowledged that sometimes can lead to a stalemate between two normally exciting fighters. But no matter how it plays out, Landwehr thinks he’s got the edge – and he’s got a history that backs up that reputation.

“If he don’t get me, I’m going to get him. That’s my style. Most of the fights I’ve lost, I had to get got. Usually, if it goes to the end, I win – as long as I let it go. So I’ve just got to go out there and let it go, and it’s going to be my night.”

After suffering personal tragedy, Nate Landwehr plans on coming out ‘guns blazing’ vs. Doo Ho Choi

Nate Landwehr is coming into UFC 310 with a heavy heart.

[autotag]Nate Landwehr[/autotag] is coming into UFC 310 with a heavy heart.

Landwehr (18-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) takes on Dooho Choi (15-4-1 MMA, 4-3-1 UFC) Dec. 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN2, ESPN+).

Landwehr revealed that his wife Robyn recently suffered a miscarriage, a personal tragedy that will play in his mind going into UFC 310.

“It’s just like a fight, man,” Landwehr told Middle Easy. “You’ve just got to keep fighting. We had to go through IVF, so they’ve got to go in, they’ve got to strip my wife’s eggs, and they fertilize them. So we ended up with X amount of embryos that were viable. We had five boy embryos and one girl embryo.

“We tried to put the girl in a little bit ago. She attached, and she just didn’t quite make it. Her name was going to be June Marie. I think about it. All the things that could have been. … You start plotting and planning and then God laughs at you like, ‘I’ve got a plan for you,’ and it just wasn’t meant to be.”

Landwehr is coming off a first-round knockout of Jamall Emmers at UFC on ESPN 54 in March. He was able to rebound from his loss to Dan Ige at UFC 289 – the lone fight he didn’t receive a bonus in from his past five appearances.

Although Landwehr noticed that Choi has been more reserved in his second UFC stint, he plans on bringing out the dog in him.

“You’ve put that in the air,” Landwehr said. “I was expecting that kind of thing when I was fighting Dan Ige, and it didn’t play out. It was a decent fight, but that’s kind of one of my biggest regrets in the UFC since I’ve been there so far. I can accept getting knocked out by Herbert Burns, but it weighs on me.

“It should’ve been kill or killed in that last round (vs. Ige). Every fight I’ve been in has been a bonus except for that fight. I tried to make up for it in my last fight, I was hyper-aggressive, came out swinging, took a little bit more damage. I’m going to try to protect myself this time, but I’m just going to come out guns blazing, swinging, and we’re going to see what happens.”

Dooho Choi vs. Nate Landwehr joins UFC 310 lineup Dec. 7 in Las Vegas

A featherweight banger between Doo Ho Choi and Nate Landwehr has been added to UFC 310.

A featherweight banger has been added to UFC 310.

[autotag]Dooho Choi[/autotag]takes on [autotag]Nate Landwehr[/autotag] Dec. 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN2, ESPN+). A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie following an initial report from MMA Mania.

Winner of four of his past five fights, Landwehr (18-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) is coming off a first-round, Performance of the Night knockout of Jamall Emmers at UFC on ESPN 54 in March. He has earned a bonus in all four of his wins during that stretch.

Choi (15-4-1 MMA, 4-3-1 UFC) returned after a three-year long layoff against Kyle Nelson in February 2023. After being deducted a point for an accidental headbutt, his fight with Nelson was ruled a majority draw. However, in his next fight, Choi was able to snap his four-fight winless streak with a TKO finish of Bill Algeo at UFC on ESPN 60 in July.

With the addition, the current UFC 310 lineup includes:

  • Alexandre Pantoja vs. Kai Asakura – for flyweight title
  • Ciryl Gane vs. Alexander Volkov
  • Movsar Evloev vs. Aljamain Sterling
  • Dominick Reyes vs. Anthony Smith
  • Virna Jandiroba vs. TBA
  • Clay Guida vs. Chase Hooper

UFC on ESPN 54 winner Kyle Nelson calls out Nate Landwehr, says ‘we’ll see him go to sleep’

Kyle Nelson wants a piece of Nate Landwehr after they both had first-round finishes at UFC on ESPN 54.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – [autotag]Kyle Nelson[/autotag] wants a piece of [autotag]Nate Landwehr[/autotag]

The UFC featherweight called out Landwehr on Saturday following their respective wins at UFC on ESPN 54. Nelson (16-5-1 MMA, 4-4-1 UFC) stopped Bill Algeo (19-7 MMA, 5-4 UFC) by standing TKO in the first round, while Landwehr knocked out Jamall Emmers also in the first.

Nelson has been eyeing Landwehr for some time and given the recent results, he believes a fight between the two makes sense.

“Nate has been on my radar for a long time,” Nelson told reporters, including MMA Junkie, backstage at Boardwalk Hall. “We fought at UFC Vancouver in Canada together, and all the 145ers are on my radar. Nate had a good performance tonight. I like to stand and bang, he likes to stand and bang, so it makes sense to me.”

Nelson has picked up momentum in the last year. He’s now on a three-fight winning streak and looking to continue to extend it. The Canadian believes that if he were to get his wish granted, he’d finish Landwehr just like he did Algeo.

“It’s probably going to be pretty similar to the one I just had,” Nelson said. “Nate is also a very tough guy. I think I’m going to hit him with some hard shots, and this time we’ll see him go to sleep.”

UFC on ESPN 54 winner Nate Landwehr open to Bryce Mitchell matchup: ‘That would be a good one’

Nate Landwehr likes the idea of a matchup against Bryce Mitchell following his win at UFC on ESPN 54.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – A fun matchup between [autotag]Nate Landwehr[/autotag] and [autotag]Bryce Mitchell[/autotag] could be starting to brew, with one side already on board.

Landwehr said he’d be interested in fighting Mitchell following his knockout of Jamall Emmers on Saturday at UFC on ESPN 54. It was a big win for Landwehr (18-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC), who’s now angling for a ranked name in the division with Mitchell in mind.

“Whatever they want,” Landwehr said when asked about the Mitchell matchup at the UFC on ESPN 54 post-fight press conference. “If they want that fight, that’s a good fight. He’s got a great following, and he’s got his own swagger, and I got mine. That would be a good one.”

In the end, Landwehr is down to fight whomever. He sustained a cut in the fight Saturday, so he’s looking to fully heal and recover from that. Once that’s good, Landwehr is down to fight anyone.

“Man, whoever,” Landwehr said. “We have to figure out how long is going to get this cut to heal and see what the UFC wants me to do. I’m a fighter, fighters fight, and I’m ready to go.”

Landwehr’s post-fight celebration was an emotional one. The victory put him back in the win column as he was coming off a decision loss to Dan Ige last June. Landwehr is now 4-1 in his past five outings.

“It feels great to be back in this win column,” Landwehr said. “This morning I woke up with something to prove, and I’m going to sleep a winner.”
