Jets’ Aaron Rodgers accountable for Nate Hackett losing play-calling duties

Nate Hackett is no longer calling the plays for the New York Jets offense.

Aaron Rodgers knows that is partially his fault.

Rodgers and the Jets (2-3) will face the Buffalo Bills (3-2) on “Monday Night Football” in Week 6.

A lot has happened since anyone saw the Jets last take the field.

New York now has a new head coach, Jeff Ulbrich, as Robert Saleh was fired. Then Ulbrich demoted Hackett and promoted passing-game coordinator Todd Downing. He will now call the plays for the team’s offense.

In making the decision, Ulbrich said fresh ideas were needed and tried not to make it personal.

“This is more a byproduct of a different take on things,” Ulbrich said. “I’m not saying it’s a better or worse take on things by any means, but just a different take on things, a fresh approach.”

In terms of the QB, again, he was hard on himself more than anything. Coming off a game where Rodgers tossed three interceptions, it’s not all that surprising.

“We need to be accountable to each other,” Rodgers said. “I play better, this doesn’t happen. We play better as an offense, this doesn’t happen.”
