If Xavier Booker can take a big step in his game this upcoming season, MSU has the potential to be very good

If Xavier Booker can take a big step in his game this upcoming season, Michigan State has the potential to be very good.

Booker has been impressing many this offseason, and he is “capable of doing big things” this year. Booker made that comment to Lansing State Journal reporter Nathaniel Bott earlier this week after competing in a Moneyball Pro Am game.

Booker was a highly-rated prospect in the 2023 class but played a smaller role as a true freshman this past season. He appeared in 27 games this past season, averaging 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds across 9.2 minutes per game.

Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press caught up with Xavier Booker on Tuesday and reported some positive news on the former five-star recruit.

Booker — who is entering his sophomore season at Michigan State in the fall — has reportedly added weight this offseason and is now up to 242 pounds. Additionally, Solari noted he is learning to use”his new weight” and is showing noticeable improvements in ball-handling on the floor.

One final fun piece of information Solari reported on Booker was that he has spent time working out with NBA legend LeBron James and his son Bronny this offseason.

MSU freshman PF Xavier Booker listed in ESPN 2024 NBA mock draft

What are the chances Michigan State star freshman power forward Xavier Booker will be a one-and-done? Decently high, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony

What are the chances Michigan State star freshman power forward Xavier Booker will be a one-and-done? Decently high, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

Booker was listed as a fringe first round pick in ESPN’s first mock for the 2024 NBA Draft. Givony has Booker going No. 33 overall to Portland in his initial mock for next year’s draft.

Booker was a five-star prospect in last year’s class, and ranked as the No. 2 center by 247Sports. He will surely play a role for the Spartans this next year but it will be interesting if it’ll be enough to play his way into the first round of next year’s NBA Draft.
