Spartan Stadium considered one of top ‘sneaky awesome atmospheres’ in Big Ten

Spartan Stadium received some praise on Thursday

Michigan State’s home football field received some praise on Thursday.

Spartan Stadium was considered one of the top five “sneaky awesome atmospheres” in the Big Ten, according to Anthony Herron of the Big Ten Network. Herron ranked the top five sneaky awesome atmospheres and listed Spartan Stadium as No. 3. He had Washington’s Husky Stadium at No. 1 and Purdue’s Ross-Ade Stadium at No. 2. Behind Spartan Stadium was Minnesota’s Huntington Bank Stadium at No. 4 and Rutgers’ Shi Stadium at No. 5.

In my mind, this is a great list from Herron. There are honestly a ton of great venues in the Big Ten, so it’s hard to know what’s considered a “sneaky awesome atmosphere” but I personally have no issue with this list.

On the year, Michigan State is 2-1 in home games played at Spartan Stadium, with the lone loss coming against Ohio State. Michigan State will return home for its next game after the bye this week, facing Iowa on October 19. That game is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Watch some of the ‘loudest’ moments in Spartan Stadium history

Spartan Stadium has seen some wild finishes over the years — here are some of the best ever

Can you name the loudest moment in Spartan Stadium history?

Probably not, since that is an objective question, but there certainly are some times that come to mind. For me personally, I’d say the yell of the crowd after the officials overturned the call on the field for the Hail Mary “Rocket” game against Wisconsin in 2011 is up there. So is the interception by Charles Brantley to seal the Spartans victory over rival Michigan in 2021. Being in the stadium for both of those wild finishes are two moments I’ll never forget in my lifetime.

Both of those games were included in a fun montage video put together by “Michigan State Content” on X earlier this week. Check out this great video of clips from some of the most “loudest” moments in Spartan Stadium history below:
