Michigan State football enters the season finale with an opportunity to reach the postseason.
The Spartans snapped a three-game losing streak this past weekend in a victory over Purdue. That win pushed Michigan State to 5-6 overall and sets up Michigan State in a situation where if they beat Rutgers on Saturday then they’ll be bowling.
Rutgers comes into this matchup with bowl eligibility already locked up but could improve their bowl stock with a win over Michigan State. Rutgers is 6-5 overall on the year, and enters this game off a heartbreaking loss to Illinois this past weekend.
Here are the game details for this week’s matchup between the Spartans and Scarlet Knights.

Michigan State vs. Rutgers prediction, pick
My early read on this game is leaning toward Rutgers. The Spartans defense is banged up and I have a feeling even the Scarlet Knights’ pitiful passing attack will be able to move the ball on this secondary. My opinion on this game could change as the week goes on since this is essentially a toss-up, but right now I like Rutgers to win outright.
Prediction: Michigan State 20, Rutgers 24
