MSU Football shuts out Prairie View A&M for blowout win

Michigan State football is 3-0 for the first time in three years following a dominant win over Prairie View A&M

Michigan State football is 3-0 for the first time in three years.

The Spartans took care of business in a home win over FCS foe Prairie View A&M, 40-0, on Saturday. The win pushed the Spartans to 3-0 on the year, which is the first time they’ve done so since Kenneth Walker was running for the green-and-white.

Michigan State built up a comfortable halftime lead to make for an easy going second half. The Spartans held a 27-0 lead at halftime, with a pair of highlight plays fueling the big opening frame for Michigan State. Running back Nate Carter had a 60-yard touchdown run and cornerback Charles Brantley had a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Michigan State appeared to take the foot off the gas pedal in the second half, knowing the game was in control. The Spartans only added a pair of field goals and touchdown run from backup quarterback Tommy Schuster to finish off the Panthers.

Spartans starting quarterback Aidan Chiles finished the game completing 12 of 19 passes for 179 yards and one touchdown and also ran for a touchdown as well. Chiles was pulled from the game midway through the third quarter when it was clear the Spartans would win the game.

Michigan State will wrap up non-conference play next week with a road game at Boston College. Kickoff between the Spartans and Eagles is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and will be televised on the ACC Network.
