Michigan State football put up a strong fight before the floodgates opened in another blowout loss on Friday night.

No. 6 Oregon dominated the Spartans on both sides of the ball in a 31-10 victory over Michigan State on Friday night. The Spartans were outgained by more than 200 yards in the matchup, and trailed 31-0 before scoring late in the game.

With the loss, Michigan State is now 3-3 overall and 1-2 in Big Ten play. The Spartans have lost three straight games following their fast 3-0 start to the season.

Michigan State will now be off next week and return the following week in a home matchup against Iowa. The Spartans were dominated by simply a better team in a nationally televised loss to No. 6 Oregon. Michigan State hung with the Ducks for most of the first half thanks to a few key defensive plays in the red zone, but eventually, the dams broke in a 31-10 loss. Michigan State trailed 31-0 before adding some points late in the fourth quarter.

With the loss, Michigan State drops to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in Big Ten play. The Spartans have lost three straight games and will be on a bye next week before welcoming Iowa to Spartan Stadium on October 19.

Michigan State football falls at Oregon on Friday night

Michigan State was once against outmatched on Friday night

For a second straight week, Michigan State football was simply outmatched.

The Spartans were dominated by No. 6 Oregon on Friday night, losing by the final score of 31-10 from Autzen Stadium. The Ducks made a push late in the first half to build a comfortable lead that led to a comfortable victory.

The costly mistakes that have killed the Spartans the past two weeks continued in the first quarter. In a scoreless game in the first quarter, Michigan State drove the field but an Aidan Chiles fumble on the one yard line ended their chances of taking an early lead.

Michigan State was able to keep it close for most of the first half despite being dominated in the boxscore. A pair of redzone interceptions by Spartans Malik Spencer and Charles Brantley kept the Spartans in it. However, Oregon finished the half with back-to-back touchdown drives to end the half and carry a 21-0 lead into the break.

Michigan State was outgained 363 to 102 total yards in the opening half. Oregon dominated on the ground with 192 rushing yards to only 21 for the Spartans.

Oregon would add to its lead in the second half, building a 31-0 margin before Michigan State finally found the endzone late in the fourth quarter. Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams scored from one yard out to record Michigan State’s lone touchdown in the game.

In the end, Michigan State was outgained 477 to 250 total yards. The Spartans finished the game with only 51 rushing yards.

With the loss, Michigan State drops to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in Big Ten play. The Spartans have now lost three straight games after a 3-0 start to the season.

Michigan State will be on a bye next week before returning for a home matchup against Iowa on October 19. The kickoff time for that game has not been announced yet.
