Michigan State set to play North Carolina on Thanksgiving 2025

Michigan State basketball will get a long-awaited rematch against their 2024 March Madness opponents on Thanksgiving next year when the Spartans will face North Carolina on Thanksgiving 2025 in Fort Myers.

The news was announced on Thursday morning. The event will be part of the 2025 Fort Myers Tip-Off event and will be held at Florida SouthWestern State College’s Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

The other teams that will be participate in the event have not yet been announced.

Turkey and Spartans’ hoops returns again next year

Michigan State basketball will once again hit the hardwood on Thanksgiving, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander.

Norlander is reporting that the Spartans will play North Carolina on Thanksgiving in 2025. The two programs have “verbally agreed” to play each other as part of the four-team Fort Meyers Tip-Off event. The game will be played in the late afternoon after the Detroit Lions annual Thanksgiving game.

Michigan State basketball played Arizona this past year on Thanksgiving as well. This year, Michigan State will be playing in the Maui Invitational that occurs Monday – Wednesday of Thanksgiving week.

Michigan State last played North Carolina in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels beat the Spartans to advance to the Sweet 16.
