A complete slate of conference play this week resulted in quite a bit of shakeup in our weekly power rankings — especially at the top of the league.

For the first time this season, Purdue is not the top team in the league and we have a new No. 1 squad. Who is replacing the Boilermakers as our top Big Ten team this week?

Let’s take a look at where we have the Spartans and the rest of the Big Ten teams in our updated weekly power rankings:

Michigan State is one of the 10 best teams in the country, according to college basketball analyst Andy Katz.

Katz — who writes for NCAA.com and does television work for the Big Ten Network — released an updated batch of power rankings on Monday, with the Spartans cracking the top 10 for the first time this year. Katz moved Michigan State up six spots to No. 7 in his newest rankings.

Michigan State is 12-2 on the season and has won seven straight games, with their last loss coming to the top-ranked Baylor Bears in the Battle 4 Atlantis championship game. The Spartans are a perfect 3-0 in Big Ten play as well.

Like Katz, I have the Spartans as the second-highest Big Ten team in our weekly power rankings behind only Purdue. Check out my Big Ten power rankings by clicking on the link below:

Michigan State continues to remain one of the top teams in the Big Ten in our latest batch of power rankings.

There wasn’t a ton of action this past week, but Michigan State did pick up a pair of wins — including a road conference win over Northwestern. Those two wins keep the Spartans near the top of our power rankings.

Let’s take a look at where we have the Spartans and the rest of the Big Ten teams in our updated weekly power rankings:

It was a quiet week for the Big Ten, but there were still a handful of games that resulted in some slight shifts in our weekly power rankings.

A number of teams — including the Spartans — didn’t play this past week due to finals or COVID-related cancelations. So with there being a lack of games, there will be a lack of notable changes in the newest batch of power rankings.

Let’s take a look at where we have the Spartans and the rest of the Big Ten teams in our updated weekly power rankings:

It’s the time of the year where we can for the most part turn all of our focus from the gridiron to the hardwood. So it’s only fitting we get started with a new weekly batch of Big Ten basketball power rankings.

Throughout the fall, Spartans Wire would release a weekly football power rankings poll of the Big Ten teams. Now that we are onto the bowl season, we are shifting to a similar weekly power rankings poll for men’s basketball.

Let’s take a look at where we have the Spartans and the rest of the Big Ten teams in our initial power rankings:
