Michigan State football is going to need a strong performance from quarterback Aidan Chiles in these final two weeks if they’re going to reach the postseason.

The Spartans return home this week in a Friday night matchup against Purdue. Michigan State comes into this game on a three-game losing streak and in need of wins in each of its last two games to reach bowl eligibility. The Spartans are 4-6 overall and 2-5 in Big Ten play.

Purdue is having an even rougher go this year, with the Boilermakers sitting at 1-9 overall and 0-7 in Big Ten play. Purdue hasn’t won since the season opener against FCS foe Indiana State.

Michigan State football should have its starting quarterback back in the lineup next time they take the field.

That’s what head coach Jonathan Smith said following the Spartans’s blowout loss against Indiana. Spartans starting quarterback Aidan Chiles left the game in the third quarter with an injury and didn’t return following the play. Chiles was hit by an Indiana defender and went straight to the locker room with the training staff. He eventually returned to the Spartans’ sidelines but didn’t come back into the game.

The nature of the injury was not announced following the game. He was, however, seen after the game with tape on his right hand and wrist, according to Ian Kress of WLNS.

Here’s what Smith had to say about the injury during his postgame press conference:

Michigan State lost to the Hoosiers by the final score of 47-10. The Spartans are now 4-5 overall and 2-4 in Big Ten play. Michigan State is on a bye next week and will return to action at Illinois on November 16.

MSU starting quarterback Aidan Chiles has left the game vs. Indiana with an injury after taking a hit from a Hoosiers defender

Things got even worse for the Spartans in an already rough situation on Saturday afternoon.

Michigan State starting quarterback Aidan Chiles left the game in the third quarter with an injury. Chiles was hit by a Hoosiers defender and remained on the ground after the play. It was unclear at the time of this post what the injury that Chiles suffered was, but he went straight to the locker room following the play.

Chiles eventually returned to the sidelines, but never went back into the game.

Chiles has started all nine games for the Spartans this year. He left the game with Michigan State down 30-10 vs. Indiana.

Spartans quarterback Aidan Chiles has shown signs of brilliance but also had numerous head-scratching mistakes that have plagued Michigan State during its current three-game losing streak. During the year, Chiles has thrown for 1,212 yards and five touchdowns compared to eight interceptions.

Michigan State comes into this week’s game against Iowa with a 3-3 overall record and a 1-2 mark in league play. Iowa is 4-2 overall and 2-1 in Big Ten games.

MSU QB Aidan Chiles gets into the endzone in the second quarter to regain the lead for the Spartans

Michigan State football responded in the second quarter to regain the lead thanks to a pair of nice plays by quarterback Aidan Chiles.

Chiles scored a one-yard touchdown run on a quarterback sneak with 8:10 left in the second quarter. The touchdown run by Chiles was set up by a 40-yard pass to wide receiver Montorie Foster the play before.

With the touchdown run, Michigan State regained the lead, 10-6.

Michigan State football picked up a shutout victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday to improve to 3-0 on the year.

The Spartans were once again led offensively by starting quarterback Aidan Chiles in the victory. Chiles threw for 179 yards and one touchdown in the victory. He also ran for a touchdown.

Michigan State will head to Boston College next week in its final non-conference matchup of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

Michigan State struck first in Saturday’s non-conference matchup against FCS foe Prairie View A&M. Michigan State cashed in on its first offensive drive thanks to a six-yard touchdown run from starting quarterback Aidan Chiles.

Chiles finished the game throwing for more than 360 yards and three touchdowns. His best throw of the day was late in the fourth quarter when he connected on a deep ball to wide receiver Nick Marsh for a 77-yard touchdown.

Detroit Sports Radio host gives big shoutout to QB Aidan Chiles following win vs. Maryland

Aidan Chiles’ strong performance vs. Maryland gained attention from those outside of Spartan Nation

Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles made huge plays to lead the Spartans to a win over Maryland on Saturday, and that performance is gaining attention outside of Spartan Nation.

Chiles received a shoutout from Detriot sports radio host Jim Costa following the win over Maryland. Costa, a co-host on 97.1 The Ticket’s morning show, said Chiles made an “incredible throw” on the Nick Marsh 77-yard touchdown to tie the game in the fourth quarter. He also gave praise to Chiles for his fourth-quarter game-winning drive.

Chiles finished the game with 363 yards passing and three touchdowns to lead the Spartans to the monster road victory over the Terps.

Michigan State will return to the field for a home game against Prairie View A&M. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday, and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

FAU coach Tom Herman praises MSU QB Aidan Chiles despite poor performance

MSU starting QB Aidan Chiles received high praise from opposing head coach despite poor performance vs. FAU

It wasn’t a great night for new Michigan State starting quarterback Aidan Chiles, but he still earned the praise from the opposing head coach.

Florida Atlantic head coach Tom Herman shared positive remarks about Chiles following the Spartans’ narrow 16-10 victory over the Owls. According to Kenny Jordan of On3, Herman stated Chiles is “special” and he was really impressed by his play.

Chiles finished his first career start completing only 10 of 24 pass attempts for 114 yards and two interceptions. He did run for one of the Spartans’ two touchdowns on the night.
