The Brooklyn Nets are looking at the 2023-24 season as a chance to exceed expectations and prove doubters as the organization tries to pivot to a young, up-and-coming team. Unfortunately, everyone in and around the Nets will be going into this season with heavy hearts.
Brooklyn announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Judy Reznick, known by Nets fans as “Mrs. Whammy” and the wife of Bruce “Mr. Whammy” Reznick, recently passed away at 87 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Whammy have made quite a name for themselves by being superfans who show up to every Nets home game in support of the team.
Mr. Whammy is known for being the guy seated courtside next to one of the baskets doing his best to distract the opposing team’s free-throw shooter. While Mr. Whammy has been a distraction for those who visit Barclay’s Center to take on on the Nets, Mrs. Whammy was right there with him doing her part and she will be missed.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Judy Reznick, affectionately known to so many as Mrs. Whammy. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her husband Bruce and the entire Reznick family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. pic.twitter.com/pkqX2oMOHs
