There’s a mysterious, new MoviePass website. Is it making a comeback?

MoviePass, a movie-theater subscription service, got cancelled in TK. But there’s a chance it is coming back. And the stock is way up.

MoviePass might be back — maybe?

A mysterious website (moviepass.ventures) teased a comeback for the defunct movie theater subscription service. MoviePass was a subscription service in which customers paid a monthly fee in exchange for the ability to see one movie in theaters per day. The business model didn’t work out — and the service folded, leaving many angry people in its wake.

Its website (moviepass.com) still has the same message that it had in 2019: MOVIEPASS SERVICE DISRUPTION. The company’s CEO Mitch Lowe wrote a letter to subscribers informing them that the company was having issues raising and sustaining capital. That message remains at the time of publication for this story.

So what is this new website? Is MoviePass coming back? Or is someone just expertly trolling movie-fiends (like myself)?
