Rockets deliver Mother’s Day treats to overnight hospital staff

The Cadillac Bar restaurant of Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta prepared special Mother’s Day treats for hospital staffers in Houston.

On Saturday evening, the Cadillac Bar restaurant of Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta prepared special Mother’s Day treats for Memorial Hermann hospital staff at the Memorial City location in West Houston.

The treats were delivered prior to the overnight shift by Rockets employees as well as the team’s mascot, Clutch the Bear.

“I’ve been a nurse here at Memorial Hermann for a few years now, and I have to say that I’ve never quite seen anything like this,” said Latrice Cowell, a registered nurse and clinical coordinator for labor and delivery.

She continued her remarks:

At this time, to make us feel special — our staff, our physicians, and our nurses by providing us this really sweet treat on Mother’s Day — really makes us feel appreciated.

On Easter, the Rockets distributed meals from two of Fertitta’s local establishments, La Griglia restaurant and Post Oak Hotel, to frontline workers at Memorial Hermann hospitals in Greater Heights and Katy. It’s one of several examples in recent weeks of the franchise giving back to first responders amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
