A few of Fox’s peers also attended the wedding including Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair and Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum. Former Kentucky Wildcats Bam Adebayo and Wenyen Gabriel, who was also Fox’s teammate in Sacramento, attended the wedding. Adebayo and Gabriel were two of the groomsmen at the ceremony.

“I think adding Keegan, somebody who he just said can play multiple positions, really helps us as we build it out,” McNair said. “But as always, we’re going to be aggressive and see what we can do to continue to add to this team.” McNair said that he feels the Kings are in a good spot in the coming days to add, be it through free agency or via trade. Murray is expected to play in the upcoming California Classic in the Bay Area, as well as Las Vegas Summer League. The Kings have been busy adding players on two-way and summer league contracts over the last few days and there is potential for the team to put up a nice showing during the summer schedule.

Mike Brown: “I didn’t really deal with Vivek a ton (during the coaching search) except for that one meeting. It was down at his house (in Atherton), which was good for me with my (Warriors) schedule because it was close to where I was. Monte and Wes were there too. The process was probably a couple weeks overall from the beginning to the end. “But it really started with Monte and Wes, and I’ll even back it up a step further. You know, Wes and I worked together in Cleveland. So I knew what Wes was about and he obviously explained to me what Monte was about and I got to know Monte over the process a little bit better. And so starting with those two guys right there, I said, ‘Hey, man, you know, I can work with these guys.’

More on this storyline

Though Brown signed a four-year deal, sources say Kings GM Monte McNair is entering the final season of his contract and there have been no talks about a possible extension. No matter how you look at it, that means there’s significant pressure on McNair as the Kings try — yet again — to break the league-long playoff drought that has become the bane of their existence. -via The Athletic / May 16, 2022
Sources say McNair’s status was a focal point for many of the coaching candidates during the process, with some having concerns about the lack of contractual commitment to the front office and what it might mean for their (would-be) partnership. McNair, who was a Houston Rockets assistant GM previously, was hired to replace the departed Vlade Divac in mid-September 2020. -via The Athletic / May 16, 2022
Joe Dumars’ contract was expiring, and I’m told he wanted more direct control over the front office if he was going to return. In Dumars’ desired structure, Monte McNair would have reported to him rather than Ranadivé. Ranadivé didn’t share an interest in that sort of setup, and now Dumars has opted for this prominent role with the league. Considering the bizarre way the Kings’ GM search unfolded nearly two years ago, when Dumars showed strong signs of wanting the job he would later play a pivotal part in filling, none of this should come as a surprise. A source with knowledge of the situation said it does not appear Dumars’ role will be filled. -via The Athletic / May 2, 2022
