The New York Yankees (20-16) and Baltimore Orioles (16-20) play a doubleheader at Oriole Park at Camden Yards Friday. The first pitch of Game 1 is set for 5:05 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Yankees-Orioles MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Yankees at Orioles: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Michael King vs. RHP Thomas Eshelman

King: 1-1, 6.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 7.8 K/9, 3.1 BB/9, 17 1/3 IP, 5 games (2 starts)

  • Has gone 3 2/3 innings in each of his two starts thus far. Allowed a total of 5 earned runs while being capped at 70 pitches.
  • Hasn’t allowed a home run since giving up a total of three over his first two relief appearances of the season.

Eshelman: 3-0, 3.48 ERA, 0.823, 3.5 K/9, 1.3 BB/9, 20 2/3 IP, 7 games (2 starts)

  • Has allowed four home runs over his seven appearances.
  • Went 4 and 5 innings in his first two starts of the season, respectively, allowing just 2 earned runs in each outing and picking up the win against the Philadelphia Phillies in his second start.

Prediction

Yankees 5, Orioles 2

Moneyline (ML)

The YANKEES (-154) have been rather unimpressive of late with three losses in their last four games. They’ve slipped into a tie with the Toronto Blue Jays for second place in the AL East and are dearly missing the trio of Judge, Stanton and Torres.

The Orioles (+140) are the perfect remedy, however, as they’ve dropped six of their last eight games. RHP Alex Cobb was placed in the injured list Friday, forcing them to turn to Eshelman for Game 1 of the doubleheader. He has performed well this season, but he has drawn some favorable matchups and won’t pitch deep into the game.

Take the YANKEES for a modest profit of $6.50 on a $10 bet.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Take the YANKEES -1.5 (+110) for a greater return on your investment should they win by 2 or more runs. They’re 21-15 against the run line this season; the Orioles (+1.5, -134) are 22-14 on the RL.

The Yankees won both games of a two-game set in Baltimore in late July. They won by scores of 9-3 and 8-6. Their current lineup isn’t nearly as dangerous, but it’ll do just fine against this Orioles staff.

Over/Under (O/U)

Lean to the UNDER 8 (-115) in this 7-inning half of the doubleheader. The Over hit in both of the season’s previous head-to-head games, but as mentioned, the Yankees offense isn’t at full strength.

Both offenses are just above league average in runs scored per game with little room for error on projected totals. Look for this to be a tight, low-scoring game until the Yanks break it open late.

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Toronto Blue Jays (14-13) host the Boston Red Sox (9-20) for a three-game set at their Triple-A facility at Buffalo’s Sahlen Field, beginning Tuesday at 6:37 p.m. ET. We analyze the Red Sox-Blue Jays betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Red Sox at Blue Jays: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Kyle Hart vs. RHP Chase Anderson

Hart: 0-1, 11.12 ERA, 9 K, 7 BB, 7 ER, 5 2/3 IP, 2 starts

  • The 27-year-old, former 19th-round draft choice made his MLB debut this season after pitching in Double-A and Triple-A last season.
  • He allowed two earned runs over 3 2/3 innings in his last start for a marked improvement over his first outing when he allowed five earned runs over just two innings.

Anderson: 0-0, 2.79 ERA, 7 K, 3 BB, 3 ER, 9 2/3 IP, 3 starts

  • Hasn’t gone past 3 2/3 innings in any of his three starts, but allowed just one earned run each time.
  • Has allowed 20 fly balls to just 10 ground balls.

Prediction

Blue Jays 9, Red Sox 5

Moneyline (ML)

The BLUE JAYS (-118) are a fine play as slight favorites in their home site for the 2020 season. The Red Sox (+105) come in off of back-to-back losses to the Baltimore Orioles to split a four-game set. The Jays are 7-2 in their last nine games, coming off a 2-2 split with the Tampa Bay Rays, and recently swept those same Orioles in three games while outscoring them 20-11.

Boston won two of three against Toronto at Fenway Park earlier this month. All three games played to the Under and the Red Sox went 2-1 against the spread. Expect different results in Buffalo for this three-game set.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

As noted above, Anderson’s surface numbers are much better than he deserves early in his season, but Hart has been every bit as bad as his numbers show. He’s inducing a soft-contact rate of just 10.5% with a 47.4% fly-ball rate, though he is being hurt by an inflated .412 BABIP.

The BLUE JAYS -1.5 (+155) must be backed on the alternate run line for the win by at least 2 runs. They’re better equipped for a short outing from their starter with the fourth-ranked bullpen by ERA (3.15). Red Sox relievers combine for 5.75 ERA to rank 29th in baseball.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 11.5 (+110) on another alternate line for the half-run hook and a higher profit margin. These teams hit the Under three games in a row at Fenway Park just a couple weeks ago, but the Jays enter this series 5-3-2 against the OU across their last 10 games.

The Jays have also gone 4-3 against the OU in their seven games at Sahlen Field this season.
