Miron Gurman shoots up the recruiting rankings after Rutgers football commitment

Miron Gurman is now ranked among the top players in New York’s class of 2025.

Days after committing to Rutgers football while on an official visit, New York lineman Miron Gurman has shot up the recruiting rankings.

Gurman, who counts Rutgers as his only Power Five offer, is now the second-ranked player in New York in the class of 2025 per 247Sports. A week ago, Gurman was unranked and now he is ranked as the No. 66 defensive lineman in the nation.

At 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, he has Big Ten size and strength. He also plays power forward for Spencerport High School (Spencerport, New York) on their basketball team.

While on his official visit, Gurman became the first of 10 players to commit to Rutgers. It was the most players to commit to Rutgers during an official visit weekend in program history.

Gurman also held offers from Buffalo and UConn among others. Rivals ranks him as a three-star.

With the influx of commits, Rutgers now has a top class that is top-15 in the nation in the 2025 class.

Rutgers football landed three-star wide receiver Jourdin Houston.

Rutgers football’s recruiting roll continued on Sunday with the commitment of three-star wide receiver Jourdin Houston. Rutgers has pulled in multiple commitments this official visit weekend.

Houston has a strong Power Five offer list that includes Boston College, UConn, Duke, Maryland, Minnesota, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Wake Forest. The commitment is a major recruiting win for Rutgers and head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag].

He will attend St. Thomas More (Oakdale, Connecticut) this fall.

Rivals ranks Houston as the sixth-best player in Connecticut and the No. 99 wide receiver in the class of 2025. He is ranked the No. 69 wide receiver in the nation by 247Sports.

Chase Linton commits to Rutgers football.

Another day, another defensive lineman has committed to Rutgers football. On Sunday, Chase Linton committed to the Scarlet Knights.

The junior committed to Rutgers on Sunday while on an official visit.

Linton is a three-star edge rusher from North Atlanta High School (Atlanta, Georgia). He is the No. 48 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 52 recruit in Georgia in the class of 2025 according to On3.

Last year in six games, he had 31 total tackles with two sacks. He also had nine total tackles for a loss as well as a fumble caused and a fumble recovery.

He held offers from Appalachian State, Bowling Green, Georgia State, UMass and Memphis.

His commitment was made official on Sunday when he posted it on social media.

It has been a big weekend for Rutgers with several big commitments. On Saturday, Rutgers landed its first commitment from defensive lineman [autotag]Miron Gurman[/autotag]. This was followed by athlete [autotag]Michael Clayton[/autotag], defensive end [autotag]Braelyn Bruens[/autotag] and defensive lineman [autotag]Braxton Kyle[/autotag].

Braxton Kyle has committed to Rutgers football.

Saturday is shaping up to be a big day for Rutgers football, with Braxton Kyle representing the second commitment from the weekend’s official visits.

Kyle’s commitment is the second of the day for Rutgers. Defensive lineman [autotag]Miron Gurman[/autotag], a three-star from New York, committed on Saturday afternoon.

Last season as a junior, the 6-foot-4, 305-pound Kyle had Kyle has 75 total tackles and 13 sacks in 22 games. He plays for North Gwinnett High School (Suwanee, Georgia).

Rutgers offered Kyle in early March, marking his second Power Five offer. He held offers from Appalachian State, Bowling Green, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Troy and UAB among others.

The first commitment of the official visit weekend for Rutgers football came from Miron Gurman on Saturday afternoon.

Gurman, named a three-star earlier this week by Rivals, is a 6-foot-6, 255-pound defensive lineman from Spencerport High School (Spencerport, New York).

He also holds offers from Buffalo, UConn and Toledo among others.

With the commitment of Gurman, Rutgers football now stands at nine committed players in their 2025 class. He is the second defensive lineman in the group, joining Florida interior defensive lineman Jyon Simon.

A three-star, Simon also held offers from Texas, Tennessee, USC (University of Southern California), Pittsburgh, Jacksonville State. NC State and Colorado.

Last year, Rutgers landed New York’s top recruit, four-star wide receiver K.J. Duff. The addition of Gurman continues the strong recruiting efforts from Rutgers in the Empire State.

This is a big recruiting weekend for Rutgers, with the likes of four-star offensive lineman Jaelyne Matthews and four-star John Forster on campus this weekend for official visits.

Offered by Rutgers football earlier this week, things are progressing well – and quickly – between Miron Gurman and the Big Ten program.

Rutgers offered Gurman as a defensive lineman.

Gurman is an intriguing athlete, to say the least. Checking in at 6-foot-6, 250-pound, he plays on both sides of the ball for Spencerport High School (Spencerport, New York), In addition, Gurman also plays as a forward on the varsity basketball team.

Prior to his offer from Rutgers, which was the first in his recruitment from a Power Five program, Gurman held offers that also included Buffalo, UConn and Toledo.

The process with Rutgers has been thorough but reached a climax this week during a video call with head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag] and tight ends coach [autotag]Scott Vallone[/autotag].

“It all started when I went to a camp and had good numbers. That made them interested in me, and of course the film,” Gurman told Rutgers Wire

“Then (on Monday) night, me and my parents along with coach Schiano and coach Vallone got in a FaceTime call and talked about what Rutgers is all about.

“They also would come to visit me in school and keep in touch through the process leading up to the offer.”

Gurman will take an official visit to Rutgers on May 31. He also has official visits scheduled for Toledo and UConn.

Even though the Rutgers offer is still new, Gurman said he knew that he wanted to take an official visit to the program.

“Rutgers is a great school and I’m excited to see around, meet the players and staff,” Gurmon said.

“(I want to) talk to the players about how it is to be a part of the team.”

Rutgers is coming off a 7-6 season where they beat Miami in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl. They currently have the No. 29 recruiting class in the nation according to 247Sports.

Gurmon said that the way Rutgers is recruiting him is standing out in the process.

“How they wanted to talk with my family and involve them, that stood out to me,” Gurman said.

“Their message was that they want a guy that puts others above themself and that is what they see in me.”

Miron Gurman has a Rutgers football official visit scheduled.

Miron Gurman, offered by Rutgers football on Monday, has already set-up an official visit to the program.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, Gurman told Rutgers Wire that he will be taking an official visit to the Big Ten program the weekend of May 31. Rutgers is his first Power Five offer.

A 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end from Spencerport High School (Spencerport, New York), the offer from Rutgers sees them join a recruitment that also includes Buffalo, UConn and Toledo.

Offered by Rutgers as a defensive end, Gurman as plays as a tight end. He is also a forward on the Spencerport varsity basketball team.

Rutgers football joins an official visit list for Gurman that includes UConn on the weekend of June 7 and then Toledo the following weekend.

“Rutgers is a great school and I’m excited to see…and meet the players and staff,” Gurman told Rutgers Wire on Tuesday morning.

“(I want) To talk the players about it is to be a part of the team.”

Gurman is a physically strong and imposing edge rusher. At the high school level, he is dominant and with his explosive and strength can get into the backfield easily.

He has no timetable for a commitment decision.

Rutgers football offered Miron Gurman on Monday night, becoming the first Power Five offer for the tight end from New York.

Gurman, a 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end from Spencerport High School (Spencerport, New York), sees Rutgers join a recruitment that also includes Buffalo, UConn and Toledo. Strong and athletic, Gurman lines up as a tight end and a defensive. He also plays as a forward on the varsity basketball team.

The class of 2025 recruit is also fielding interest from Penn State and Syracuse among others. He was at the annual spring game for Penn State in April.

Gurman also attended the Rutgers spring game last month.

A very strong blocker, Gurman is a match-up nightmare down the field at the high school level. He is a solid route runner who has good hands.

Strength wise, he is already impressive.
