The Minnesota Timberwolves (26-25) travel to Little Caesars Arena Thursday to take on the Detroit Pistons (12-38). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Timberwolves vs. Pistons odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.
The Timberwolves and Pistons are eerily similar when it comes to their against the spread (ATS) records. The Pistons are 25-25 ATS, and the Wolves are 25-25-1 ATS.
The Wolves are coming into this game having covered two straight, scoring over 120 points in 3 straight games. However, they’ve covered just 4 of their 10. The Wolves rank fifth in points per game at 112.
As for Detroit, it ranks 29th in points per game and 24th in opponents’ points per game. The Pistons have covered 5 of their last 7. They’re much better at home with a 8-16 straight-up record, compared to 4-22 on the road.

Timberwolves at Pistons odds, lines, picks and predictions
Prediction
Timberwolves 122, Pistons 110
Money line
PASS.
I don’t like a regular-season money line favorite of -300, especially with a sub-.500 road record. Regardless, Minnesota is a far more talented team and should come out on top.
Against the spread
BET the TIMBERWOLVES -6.5 (-115).
The Wolves are going to have the rebounding edge in this battle, and that should make a huge difference. They rank 5th in offensive rebounding rate while the Pistons rank 24th in defensive rebounding.
The size of F Jarred Vanderbilt and C Karl-Anthony Towns is going to be an issue. Also, the Wolves are extremely hot, throttling the Nuggets by 15 and the Jazz by 20 in their last 2.
The Pistons are one of the more inefficient teams in the league, ranking 29th in true shooting percentage. The Wolves should have the edge in this and cover the 6.5-point spread.
Over/Under
“LEAN” to the OVER 229.5 (-108).
It’s a high total, but the Wolves have hit 4 straight Overs and 8 of their last 10. Minnesota is 30-21 O/U this season. As for Detroit, it is 5-5 O/U on its last 10 and 25-24-1 O/U this season.
