Mina Kimes wouldn’t mind Bill Belichick as next Seahawks head coach

Mina Kimes names Bill Belichick as top choice to replace Pete Carroll as Seahawks head coach.

The Seahawks did the unthinkable this week, ending the Pete Carroll era after a super-successful 14-yeat run as head coach. As to who might replace him, the only news we’ve heard so far is that Dan Quinn will be one of the candidates, so the team is keeping their search pretty tight.

The most surprising potential hire would be Bill Belichick, who just parted ways with the Patriots after 24 years and six rings.

Watch Mina Kimes on Jacson Bevens’ podcast discussing the Belichick as her top choice to replace Pete Carroll.

It sounds like an unlikely scenario, but Seattle won’t find a better candidate to fix their defense than Belichick, who’s continued to produce high-performing defensive units even long after his offense fell off after Tom Brady left.

Mina Kimes: Geno Smith is not the problem for the Seahawks

Watch Seattle superfan and ESPN analyst Mina Kimes explain why Geno is not the issue.

Football is an exceedingly complex game. With so many moving parts and factors, sometimes it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly why teams win and lose as they do. That said, if your take on why the Seattle Seahawks are clinging to .500 despite a talented roster is that they need to upgrade at quarterback, you’re probably just a bit off the mark.

Over his last three starts Geno Smith has performed at an exceptional level – especially considering the near-constant pressure his offensive line has allowed against him. During that stretch the Seahawks have gone 1-2, but if you’re blaming Smith for those two losses then you’re missing the forest for the trees. Watch Seattle superfan and ESPN analyst Mina Kimes explain why Geno is not the issue.

ESPN’s Mina Kimes praises Kevin Stefanski and Joe Flacco for Browns’ aerial success

The coach and quarterback are working well together

The job that head coach Kevin Stefanski and his coaching staff have done this year with the Cleveland Browns has been nothing short of fantastic. With so many star players carrying large amounts of cap hits out, the fact that they are 9-5 is truly impressive. Especially while being led by a 38-year-old quarterback in Joe Flacco who was not playing football four weeks ago.

ESPN’s Mina Kimes spoke on the job Flacco and Stefanski have done despite all the injuries.

On her show, they talked about how despite the offense line being banged up Stefanski has been able to scheme up some great play-action concepts to negate the line struggles. First, they did it under center and then out of the gun last week as Stefanski and Flacco continued to confuse opposing defenses.

Now itā€™s time for the offense to continue to grow and limit turnovers for the home stretch. The Browns look to hit double-digit wins this Sunday in Houston.

Twitter reactions from Seahawks players, fans after win over Eagles

Here are the best posts of the night.

Twitter is still the best place to find running commentary on any NFL game – at least until Elon Musk kills it. For now, it’s still the most fun place to be after a big win. As you can imagine, it was a lively place during and after the Seahawks’ remarkable comeback win over the Eagles on Monday night.

Here are the best posts of the night from start to finish from players, fans and analysts.

Three Seahawks defenders attempted to draw the team logo

Love has since shared his regret over the drawing.

Some professional football players are incredibly talented human beings all around. There are even some real artists around the league. Christian McCaffrey plays piano and the Eagles offensive line has a Christmas album, to name a few. We can probably count out these three Seahawks defenders from having a future in painting, though.

Yesterday Mina Kimes shared a screenshot from Instagram of three drawings – one from Coby Bryant, another from Dre’Mont Jones and one from Julian Love – all trying to capture Seattle’s team logo. Observe.

Sadly, it seems that Jones was the closest to the mark, here. At least Bryant got the general shape of the logo right, but there really aren’t any redeeming qualities for Love’s angry duck having an orgasm.

Love has since shared his regret over the drawing.

As for their day jobs, Jones and Love will both be in the starting lineup come Week 1. Meanwhile, Bryant has moved from slot corner to safety, so he’ll be backing up Love, Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams when he returns.

Mina Kimes, Doug Farrar discuss Seahawks’ 2022 red zone woes

Watch Mina Kimes and Doug Farrar discuss Seattle’s red zone woes from 2022 and how adding rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba should help.

The Seattle Seahawks had a good but not great offense last season, finishing in the top 10 in scoring and No. 14 in offensive DVOA. One area they’ll need to improve upon is their performance in the red zone, where they scored on just 48.28% of their opportunities – ranking No. 27 in the NFL.

Kevin O’Connell wants to balance offense by running the ball wisely

The Vikings want a more balanced offense in 2023, and they can do so by running the football more wisely.

The idea of a balanced offense is something that you hear about frequently. Some believe a balanced offense is about running and passing the ball 50% of the time, but that’s not how it works.

Having true balance is making the defense have to defend both simultaneously and the offense keeping them guessing on what is coming next. Being able to both run and pass the ball successfully is key to having a great offense.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell wants just that but wants to do it wisely. On her podcast, Mina Kimes spoke about his comments and mentioned a couple of key points that will help moving forward.

  • The Vikings were 6th in pass rate on first down and 4th on second down
  • They faced a significantly high rate of two-high coverage

Being able to attack those situations effectively will make things easier for the offense, hence the term wisely.

As a team, the Vikings only rushed for 4.1 yards per carry and couldn’t take advantage of those light boxes. The goal for 2023 is to be much more effective when they do run the football and be wiser in their opportunities to do so.

Mina Kimes argues the Vikings should trade up for Anthony Richardson

The Minnesota Vikings need a quarterback of the future and Mina Kimes argues that they should make a move up for Anthony Richardson.

The Minnesota Vikings have a major decision to make when it comes to the quarterback position during the NFL draft at the end of the month. They chose not to re-sign Kirk Cousins and instead restructured his contract.

The debate on how the Vikings should approach the position rages on. ESPN’s Mina Kimes weighed in and made the argument to trade up for Florida QB Anthony Richardson.

“If you’re willing to do that (move on from Kirk Cousins with a restructure), then you should really consider just trading up for Anthony Richardson.”

The idea is something that I explored in my latest mock draft and it makes a lot of sense. The top quarterbacks usually come off the board in the top 10 and rarely do quarterbacks pan out.

With that in mind, thing aren’t exactly that simple. You have to evaluate quarterbacks based on their merit and not their draft position. The tough part is the best quarterbacks end up going at the top of the draft. Sometimes, making that move just makes the most sense.

Mina Kimes shares thoughts on Seahawks’ fifth overall pick

Here’s what ESPN analyst Mina Kimes has to say about that fifth pick.

The Seahawks have a rare asset in the form of the fifth overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. The debate seems to be between picking a highly-ranked quarterback prospect or the best pass rusher in that spot.

Here’s what ESPN analyst Mina Kimes has to say about that fifth pick.

Dan Orlovsky: Jaguars offense can go ‘punch for punch’ with Chiefs

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky thinks the sky is the limit for the Jaguars offense if Calvin Ridley is still the player he used to be.

Former NFL quarterback turned ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky thinks the Jacksonville Jaguars need to invest in offensive lineman during the 2023 NFL Draft. But that deficiency aside, he’s awfully excited about the team will be able to do on offense next season.

“If Calvin Ridley is what Calvin Ridley was before the suspension, we’re talking about an offense that can go punch for punch with Kansas City, with Buffalo, with Miami. He’s that talented,” Orlovsky said Monday on an episode of NFL Live.

“[Ridley]’s going to make Christian Kirk’s job so much easier. Evan Engram is going to only be elevated. And we will see Travis Etienne have some of those lighter boxes and being able to run versus more of a numbers advantage. So his performance is a huge part of this conversation.”

During the NFL Live segment about the Jaguars, Orlovsky and two other panelists, Mina Kimes and Matt Miller, all had different opinions about what the team should do with the 24th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

While Orlovsky advocated for improved protection of quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Kimes said the Jaguars should target a cornerback. Miller highlighted the team’s pass rushing need and said that Clemson defensive lineman Bryan Bresee would be a perfect fit in Jacksonville.
