The redshirt junior previously entered the portal on April 24 after not seeing much game action during his three years with the Badgers.

Jarvis originally joined the program as a three-star recruit in the class of 2021. He was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 836 player in the class, No. 105 defensive lineman and No. 13 recruit from his home state of New Jersey.

His move to Liberty brings the number of Wisconsin class of 2021 commits to have entered the transfer portal or left the sport entirely to 10 of the 21 players. The only members of the class still in Wisconsin’s starting lineup are OT Riley Mahlman, S Hunter Wohler, LB Darryl Peterson, CB Ricardo Hallman and LB Jake Chaney.

Jarvis joins a Liberty program that went 13-1 in 2023 in its first season as a Conference USA member. Head coach Jamey Chadwell is considered one of the rising names in the sport and is sure to have a power conference job in the coming years.

Wisconsin, meanwhile, is still in the transfer portal searching for depth and talent along the defensive line.

He becomes the fifth Badger to enter the transfer portal since the spring window began on April 16, joining QB Nick Evers, DL T.J. Bollers, DL Gabe Kirschke and WR Tommy McIntosh.

The Medford, New Jersey native leaves a Wisconsin defensive line room that is razor-thin entering the 2024 season. James Thompson Jr., Curt Neal, Ben Barten return as contributors, with transfer Elijah Hills bringing valuable experience from the transfer portal.

The Badgers need an addition or two in the room before the season begins.

Instant Twitter reaction: 2021 WR Skyler Bell commits to Wisconsin

Badger fans woke up to positive news this morning after a week of the contrary as 2021 three-star wide receiver Skyler Bell announced his commitment to play for Paul Chryst and the Wisconsin Badgers.

It did not take long for Badger coaches, players and commits to take to Twitter to congratulate the wide receiver and express their excitement for the coming years.

Here is the instant Twitter reaction from Bell’s commitment:

Class of 2021 four-star defensive end T.J. Bollers:

2019 four-star quarterback Graham Mertz:

2021 four-star safety Hunter Wohler:

2021 quarterback commit now a four-star prospect after a 247Sports recruiting rankings update

247Sports updated their recruiting rankings today and in doing so bumped 2021 quarterback recruit Deacon Hill from a three-star prospect to a four-star.

Hill’s fourth star now gives the Badgers six Top247 prospects and seven four-stars in their 2021 class, a class that is lining up to be the best in program history and in the ballpark of top-10 in the nation.

247Sports director of scouting Barton Simmons weighed in on why Hill made such a big jump before even taking the field for his senior season.

“I love the upside with Deacon,” 247sports national director of scouting Barton Simmons explained. “He’s a big dude and he’s not going to run away from anybody, but he’s more athletic than you think in terms of his pocket movements and agility.

“He also looks like he has one of the strongest arms in this class. He can flick the ball downfield effortlessly regardless of conditions or base set-up. I think delivery is getting more and more important in today’s game and he can play with arm angles really effectively. He’s also a first-year starter with really strong athletic pedigree who seems to me to have a really high ceiling.

“There’s just a lot to like to me.”

Other players who received a bump in their rating include three-star defensive end Mike Jarvis and three-star running back Loyal Crawford, both players towards the bottom of the class in terms of each player’s national ranking but also guys on the rise as they prepare for their senior campaigns.

Instant Twitter reaction: 2021 DE Mike Jarvis commits to Wisconsin

Reaction from around the Wisconsin football community as Mike Jarvis commits to the Badgers

[lawrence-newsletter]Wisconsin landed their thirteenth commit in the class of 2021 when DE Mike Jarvis chose the Badgers.

Here is what a few members of the Wisconsin football Twitter community, including fellow 2021 commits, had to say on Twitter after the New Jersey native dropped his commitment video.

As did fellow 2021 DE commit Darryl Peterson:

SB Nation Wisconsin site Bucky’s 5th Quarter celebrated with their usual firing of the cannons:

Wisconsin’s class of 2021 has taken off over the past few weeks, and if the bat signals from the coaching staff on Twitter are any indication, the Badgers are just getting started.

See where the Badgers’ 2021 class ranks nationally after today’s commitment from three-star DE Mike Jarvis

2021 three-star defensive end Mike Jarvis announced today that he is committing to play for Paul Chryst and the Wisconsin Badgers…

[jwplayer WrHSqPXP]

2021 three-star defensive end Mike Jarvis announced today that he is committing to play for Paul Chryst and the Wisconsin Badgers.

The New Jersey native follows the commitments of Darryl Peterson Monday and Jack Pugh a little over a week ago.

Heading into today Chryst’s 2021 class ranked No. 17 nationally and No. 6 in the Big Ten, this after Peterson’s commitment moved the class up from its previous slot at No. 19.

Though Jarvis’ commitment means great things for the future of the defensive line–especially given the state of Wisconsin’s last of top-end defensive line talent–it did not push the needle and move the class closer to the top 10.

So, at the moment the class remains No. 17 in the nation and No. 6 in the Big Ten.

(Keep in mind since recruiting rankings were created the Badgers have not come close to having a top-10 recruiting class).

Recent news and signs do point towards the Badgers landing a few more top commits, though, so don’t expect this class to stay at No. 17 as Chryst and company continue to build their most impressive recruiting class to date.

2021 three-star DE Mike Jarvis commits to Wisconsin

The Badgers land another commitment in the class of 2021

[lawrence-newsletter]The Badgers landed another commitment in the class of 2021 when DE Mike Jarvis dropped his commitment video just minutes ago on Twitter.

The New Jersey native was being heavily targeted by in-state Big Ten rival Rutgers, but ended up choosing the Badgers in the end. In his commitment video, he referred to Madison as the “best college town in football” when he announced he would be coming to Wisconsin.

According to 247Sports, Jarvis is a three-star recruit in both their rankings and their composite rankings. Jarvis is the thirteenth hard commit in Wisconsin’s class of 2021 and the fourth DE in the class.

The Badgers currently have the No. 17 2021 class in the nation according to 247Sports.
