Aggie Legacy and 2026 OL out of Montgomery (TX) will visit Texas A&M this weekend

The son of former Aggie OL Steve McKinney will reportedly visit Texas A&M this weekend

Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class is still in its beginning stages as the 2024 football season enters its second full weekend of play, including the Aggies’ home matchup vs. McNeese State in an attempt to secure head coach Mike Elko’s first victory with the program.

Despite losing to Notre Dame 23-13 to open the season, over 100 prospects from the 2025, 2026, and 2027 recruiting classes attended the game, including several current Aggie commits. One underrated prospect, the son of one of the better offensive linemen to play for the program, will reportedly visit Texas A&M this weekend.

Standing at 6-3 and 276 pounds, Hunter McKinney’s 2024 junior season at Lake Creek HS is currently underway, and from a recruiting standpoint, he still has a lot of work to do to earn more interest from major programs while visiting College Station this weekend is certainly a good start.

Hunter’s Father, Steve McKinney, starred for the Aggies during the late 1990s under former head coach R.C. Slocum while playing for ten years in the NFL after being drafted 4th round by the Indianapolis Colts. During his career at both guard and center, McKinney logged 133 starts in 143 total appearances.

Texas A&M will host McNeese State on Saturday, Sept. 7, for an early kickoff at 11:45 a.m. The game will air on the SEC Network.

Who are the Top 10 highest paid head coaches in college football?

With Nick Saban’s retirement, who has become college football’s highest-paid head coach?

The job of a Power 5 head football coach is extremely arduous, especially in the age of NIL and the ever-growing transfer portal, as we’ve now seen several former head coaches leave their positions to take on coordinator positions due to the head-ache-inducing responsibilities.

However, for those who have stayed for the challenge, you can’t say they haven’t been well compensated, making the average American’s household income look like child’s play. Look, that’s just a fact, and like CEOs of Fortune 100 companies, every individual who holds top rank receives most of the profit because, at the end of the day, they receive the blame for anything that goes wrong within the organization.

Sticking with college football, the retirement of former Alabama head coach Nick Saban, one of the few coaching G.O.A.Ts in football history, has shifted the salary rankings. Still, for die-hard CFB fans who know their stuff, the top 5 highest-paid head coaches won’t be surprising reveal.

For Texas A&M, paying off Jimbo Fisher’s salary for the next decade certainly stings, but at least new head coach Mike Elko’s salary ($7 million per year) is a bargain for now!

Here are the contract details for new Texas A&M head football coach Mike Elko

Amid Monday’s introduction of new Texas A&M Football Head Coach Mike Elko, the veteran’s new contract is heavily incentive based.

The Mike Elko era of Texas A&M Football has officially begun, as the veteran coach, who recently served as the head coach at Duke for the last three seasons, has returned to College Station after serving as the program’s defensive coordinator from 2018-2021.

During Elko’s introductory press conference on Monday, details regarding his contract, a detail that followed now-former head coach Jimbo Fisher for much of his Aggie career, including his enormous $76.8 Million buyout, fans and media members alike were keen to know just how much money Elko will receive yearly, combined with the incentives-based package that Texas A&M AD Ross Bjork had discussed as a prerequisite at the beginning stages of the search.

Since Texas A&M is a public university, taxpayers have the right to know how their hard-earned income is being facilitated. Still, compared to the king’s ransom being paid to Fisher for the next eight years, Elko’s hard-working, blue-collar coaching mentality will hopefully yield much better results for years to come.

Here are all the specific details surrounding new Texas A&M Football coach Mike Elko’s coaching contract.
