Goran Dragic chose Nets over Bucks and Clippers thanks to Steve Nash

Dragic also met with the Bucks, including general manager Jon Horst, owner Marc Lasry and head coach Mike Budenholzer. The Clippers also flew to Miami to meet with Dragic in person over the weekend. Simply put, I was told by a source close to Dragic, “If it wasn’t for Nash, Dragic would be either with the Bucks or Clippers. Nash’s impact on Goran’s decision couldn’t be overstated.”

Goran Dragic should help a contender, but I’m not sure that contender should be the Nets. Unless it’s really just coverage for Kyrie. Otherwise, that team needs a big a lot more than they need another guard. – 10:46 AM

More on this storyline

Scotto: Dragic’s decision came down to his personal relationship with Steve Nash, who mentored him in Phoenix. I’m told the opportunity to play with such elite talent in Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons appealed to Dragic. He’s viewed as the pure point guard they need. Nash met with Dragic in Miami on Saturday. Sean Marks was there as well. I’m told Nash outlined his plan for Dragic and how he’ll fit in with the team during that meeting. I’m told there was no specific promise in terms of playing time, but there is an understanding there between the two men that he’ll be an important piece of that team. -via HoopsHype / February 23, 2022

Bucks aggressive in Goran Dragic sweepstakes

As Wojnarowski reported, the Bucks have been very aggressive in trying to sign Goran Dragić. “They need guard depth. There’s an opportunity for Goran Dragić to come in, play some meaningful minutes for the Bucks and certainly have a chance to have a run in the playoffs. … Dragic, I think, is closer to a decision but Milwaukee’s been aggressive and they can offer him, not just a chance at being a part of the defending champions, but a chance to play a pretty significant role and I think that’s really been their sell to him, Mike Budenholzer and Jon Horst, as they talk to him.”

Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer credits Sixers for adding James Harden

Milwaukee Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer gives credit to the Philadelphia 76ers for adding James Harden.

MILWAUKEE, WI–As the Philadelphia 76ers head into the All-Star break after they knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday on the road, their attention now turns to adding James Harden into the fold.

The Sixers acquired the superstar guard in a deadline-day trade with the Brooklyn Nets and he is set to make his debut for the Sixers when they come back from the break. He had to miss the last two games due to a nagging hamstring injury.

When Harden returns, one can assume that he and Joel Embiid will help the Sixers into contention in the Eastern Conference. They will be battling with teams like the Bucks, the Miami Heat, the Nets, and others.

Everybody knows how dangerous the Harden-Embiid duo can possibly be. Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer gave credit to the Sixers for what they did at the deadline.

“He’s a great player,” said Budenholzer of Harden. “We’ve all watched him for an extended period of time. A lot of years in the NBA. He’s just a very, very unique scorer, an offensive talent. I think the more great players you put on a team, the better chance you have, so certainly good for them.”

The Bucks are the defending champions and they will be the team that everybody will have to go through. The Sixers were able to come away with a win on Thursday, but come playoff time, they will have to prepare and be ready for the challenges to come. That will be on Harden and the rest of the Sixers to figure it all out.

The fracture is on the base of the finger, between the joint and the knuckle and Khris Middleton said his teammate had some support on his hand by the end of the game. “We’re trying to figure out kind of who will see him next, what the next step is,” Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer said. “Unfortunate, but I think we’re hopeful that he’ll be able to return. When that is, not exactly sure. But, so, we’ll see.”
