Middle Tennessee at Miami odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Middle Tennessee at Miami odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (2-1) will visit Hard Rock Stadium Saturday to face the Miami Hurricanes (2-1). Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ACC Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Middle Tennessee vs. Miami odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Hurricanes are coming off their 1st loss of the season in last weekend’s premier game against Texas A&M. They lost 17-9 after putting up 50 points per game through the first 2 weeks.

Miami is led by starting QB Tyler Van Dyke who was 21-for-41 for 217 yards, but no TDs against the Aggies. RB Jaylan Knighton and RB Henry Parrish Jr. split the load for the Miami backfield.

Middle Tennessee comes into this game on a 2-game win streak, taking down Colorado State 34-19 and Tennessee State 39-6. The Blue Raiders lost their season opener 44-7 to James Madison.

RB Frank Peasant has been the key for the Middle Tennessee offense, totaling 216 rushing yards in 3 games. He also has 5 rushing TDs.

Miami is No. 25 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Middle Tennessee at Miami picks and predictions

Prediction

Miami 38, Middle Tennessee 10

Money line

PASS.

A -5000 favorite vs. a +1500 underdog doesn’t bode for an interesting money line play. Pass all around here.

Against the spread

LEAN MIDDLE TENNESSEE +28.5 (-110).

The Blue Raiders played both Virginia Tech and the Malik Willis-led Liberty Flames last season, losing neither by more than 28.5.

While they were destroyed by James Madison in their opener, QB Todd Centeio put on a clinic, and Van Dyke doesn’t seem like an aggressive passer.

The Hurricanes are going to be the better, more talented side, but they may not put Middle Tennessee away. They beat Southern Miss just 30-7 and was up only 10-7 at half.

Having lost to the Aggies on the road, Miami doesn’t have as dynamic of an attack as many think, especially given all 3 of its receivers are underclassmen.

Considering how the Blue Raiders have played since the blowout loss and how Miami hasn’t put away teams it has played, I’d back MIDDLE TENNESSEE +28.5 (-110) here.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 53.5 (-110).

The Hurricanes’ attack put 70 on Bethune-Cookman, but other than that, they haven’t looked overly impressive. Miami scored 30 on Southern Miss and just 7 on Texas A&M.

Against its best opponent, Middle Tennessee scored just 7, so it’s not practical to think its offense, which has put up 40 in 2 straight games, will be able to blast a Hurricanes defense that held the Aggies to under 20.

Both teams are 1-2 O/U this season.
