The Spartans lost a handful of key contributors in their last game, but head coach Jonathan Smith expects most (if not all) to be back this week against the Fighting Illini. That includes starting quarterback Aidan Chiles.

Michigan State is looking to snap a two-game losing streak in this week’s road tilt at Illinois. The Spartans come into this matchup with a 4-5 overall record and 2-4 mark in Big Ten play.

It’s rivalry week in East Lansing, Mich.

The Spartans will once again renew their intense rivalry with in-state foe Michigan on Saturday. Michigan State comes into this rivalry matchup looking to snap a two-game losing streak against the Wolverines.

Michigan State is 4-3 on the year following a convincing upset win over Iowa this past weekend. The Spartans are 2-2 in conference play with the victory as well.

Michigan is also 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten play this year. The Wolverines are coming into this game as a touchdown favorite despite a tough loss this past week at Illinois.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday from Michigan Stadium. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Michigan State football dropped a nailbiter on the road on Saturday night.

The Spartans surrendered a late lead in the final minutes of the game to lose to the Eagles by the score of 23-19. With the loss, Michigan State is now 3-1 on the year.

Michigan State outplayed Boston College for most of the game, but was hampered by critical mistakes. The Spartans committed four turnovers, including three interceptions from quarterback Aidan Chiles, and failed to cash in on a few drives that resulted in field goals.

Michigan State will look to regroup from this loss in an extremely tough home matchup next week against Ohio State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET next Saturday.

The Spartans took care of business in a 40-0 victory over FCS foe Prairie View A&M on Saturday. The win improved Michigan State to 3-0 on the year, which is the program’s best start in three years.

Michigan State will look to move to 4-0 next week in its final non-conference game of the year at Boston College. Kickoff for that matchup is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on the ACC Network.

Spartans head coach Jonathan Smith met with the media on Monday, and provided a promising update on the offensive line. Smith noted how the offensive line is having multiple guys play at multiple positions to help bolster the unit’s depth.
