The first complete week of college football is in the books, with the Big Ten getting off to a great start in 2022.

Every Big Ten except for Purdue — who lost to Penn State — has picked up a win so far this season, and that means numerous teams are closer to reaching bowl eligibility. Brett McMurphy of the Action Network released an updated batch of bowl projections following the week one results, with Michigan State finding itself playing in a warm destination this bowl season.

Michigan State football returns next week with the Spartans opening the season against Western Michigan from Spartan Stadium.

The season may not have kicked off yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t already look ahead to the bowl season. Brett McMurphy of the Action Network released his preseason bowl projections on Monday, with all but three Big Ten teams heading bowling. That includes the Michigan State Spartans heading to another big-time bowl this year.

Could Michigan State be heading back to a New Year’s Six bowl game this year? That’s how John Whitaker (a.k.a. Big Game Boomer) see’s it going down.

Whitaker — known by many as Big Game Boomer on Twitter — released a batch of bowl projections for the upcoming 2022 season and he is apparently very high on the Spartans. Or at least higher on Michigan State than College Football News, who also recently released bowl projections.

Whitaker has the Spartans as one of three Big Ten teams making a New Year’s Six game this upcoming season. But which bowl game in particular does he have Michigan State playing in?

It’s never too early to start lightly planning your holiday bowl game vacation, right?

College Football News released an updated batch of bowl projections for the upcoming 2022 season, which includes Michigan State going to another high-level bowl game this season. Along with the Spartans, College Football News has 10 Big Ten teams projected to go bowling with only Northwestern, Indiana, Illinois and Rutgers missing out on the postseason fun.

MSU slated for Duke’s Mayo Bowl in 2022 bowl projections from Brett McMurphy

It appears Brett McMurphy of The Action Network is not particularly high on Michigan State entering the 2022 season

It appears Brett McMurphy of The Action Network is not particularly high on Michigan State entering the 2022 season.

While 247Sports had Michigan State returning to a New Year’s Six bowl game in their recent bowl projections, McMurphy has the Spartans going to a lower-tier bowl game. The Duke’s Mayo Bowl to be exact.

McMurphy has Michigan State playing Louisville in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in his never-too-early 2022 bowl projections that were released on Monday. The Duke’s Mayo Bowl isn’t a bad bowl by any means, but it’s nowhere near as prestigious as one of the New Year’s Six bowl games.

Michigan State will head back to a New Year’s Six bowl game next year, according to Brad Crawford of 247Sports.

Crawford released his way-too-early bowl projections for the College Football Playoff and New Year’s Six bowl games next year, and the Spartans cracked his list. He has Michigan State heading to the Orange Bowl for a fun matchup against the Clemson Tigers.

Here’s a bit of what Crawford had to say about the Spartans:

Michigan State got great news earlier this month with wideout Jayden Reed and safety Xavier Henderson announcing their return as top veterans and as long as the Spartans can patch up talent losses along the offensive line and defensive backfield, they’re going to finish near the top of the Big Ten.

Based on these projections, Crawford has Ohio State as his Big Ten champ and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff, and Michigan landing in the Rose Bowl as the assumed runner-up in the Big Ten East Division.

It’s officially bowl season for Michigan State football, with the Spartans set to go bowling again this year. And it should be a pretty big game for Michigan State too.

The official bowl game announcements will come out on Sunday, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start looking ahead to what the experts are projecting for Michigan State.

Here is where the major outlets have Michigan State heading for the postseason after they finished the year 10-2:
