The Michigan State Spartans (3-0) and Boston College Eagles (2-1) clash Saturday at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ACC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Michigan State vs. Boston College odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Sparties failed to cover as 42-point faves in a 40-0 shellacking of Prairie View A&M last week. QB Aidan Chiles was 12-for-19 for 173 yards and a score before exiting in garbage time. He has 4 TDs and 4 INTs on the young season.

BC covered as a 14.5-point dog in a 27-21 defeat to the Mizzou Tigers last week. The Eagles were up 14-3 on the top-10 team before Missouri broke out of its hibernation and took control. QB Thomas Castellanos was 16-for-28 for 249 yards, 3 TDs and 2 INTs in the game.

Michigan State at Boston College picks and predictions

Prediction

Boston College 21, Michigan State 17

Moneyline

The Spartans lost RG Gavin Broscious (leg) potentially for the season last week. They have a number of injuries in the secondary. WR Jaron Glover (undisclosed), who missed last week’s game, has a chance to return.

BC is battle tested and the way to go here, but the ML is too expensive. Instead, I’ll take THOMAS CASTELLANOS OVER 184.5 PASSING YARDS (-115). He has had 249 and 234 in the last 2 games, and MSU will make a concerted effort to limit his running ability.

Against the spread

As of Friday afternoon, 71% of the cash is on BOSTON COLLEGE -6.5 (-105). BC is 3-0 ATS, and it has played 2 very good opponents very well. Meanwhile, MSU is 1-2 ATS against inferior opponents.

Take BC -6.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Both teams are 1-2 O/U on the season. These teams haven’t faced one another since BC won 24-21 in 2007. There is also a 39-percent chance of rain, which would really bog things down as well.

Take the UNDER 45.5 (-110).
