MSU takes two of three from Niagara

Michigan State baseball was back in town, playing host to out-of-conference opponent Niagara in East Lansing. A three game set, hosted by the Spartans, went majority in the favor of MSU.

Michigan State won the first two games, 9-0 and 7-6, before dropping game three, 8-6.

The Spartans will next face Central Michigan at home on Tuesday, before resuming Big Ten play against Purdue in West Lafayette.

MSU baseball game at Notre Dame postponed

MSU v. Notre Dame on Tuesday has been PPD

Michigan State was set to travel to South Bend, Indiana, on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup with Notre Dame. Unfortunately, due to weather, that matchup will not be happening and has been postponed.

The Spartans were looking to build upon a series win over Rutgers this past weekend, and are on the quest to improve their 12-14 record above .500.

Michigan State baseball wins first B1G home series of 2024

MSU wins their first Big Ten home series of the season

Michigan State welcomed in Rutgers this past weekend for a 3-game Big Ten matchup with the Scarlet Knights.

After dropping the first game of the weekend, 4-2, the Spartans were able to muster up a couple of wins to take two out of three from Rutgers.

The Spartans improve to 12-14 on the year, and are slowly climbing themselves back ahead of that .500 number.

MSU will have two weekday games this week, one on the road at Notre Dame on Tuesday, with the second being the Crosstown Showdown against the Lansing Lugnuts.

Michigan State baseball drops game to Western Carolina

MSU drops the second game of the First Pitch Invitational II

Michigan State was able to knock off Western Michigan in the first game of the First Pitch Invitational II this weekend, but their fates changed in their second outing.

The Spartans dropped a game to Western Carolina, 9-5, on Saturday.

It was a tight, 2-2 game, heading into the 7th inning when WCU exploded with 7 runs, taking a 9-2 lead. The Spartans rallied for 3 runs in the 9th, but couldn’t push anything more across.

MSU drops to 5-8 on the season and will conclude their weekend on Sunday against VCU.

MSU takes game one of the First Pitch Invitational II on Friday

The Michigan State baseball team is back at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina for the First Pitch Invitational II. The Spartans came into the weekend sporting a 4-7 record, looking to get the season on track.

In game one of the weekend, MSU took down Western Michigan, beating the Broncos, 5-3.

Michigan State will be back in action on Saturday for a double header against Western Carolina.

Check out what’s on deck for MSU’s upcoming weekend in South Carolina:

Michigan State is starting to get into the meat of their 2024 season. The Spartans, who have spent most of their time in South Carolina this season, will be heading back to the palmetto state for their final southern trip of the season.

Michigan State will be heading back to Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina, for the second straight weekend:

MSU will open the weekend on Friday against VCU before facing Western Carolina for a double header on Saturday. The weekend will conclude with a Sunday matchup against Western Michigan.

The Spartans have opened the 2024 season at a measly 4-7 mark, and will be looking to turn the tides before Big Ten play begins.

Michigan State baseball drops final game of spring break weekend, finishing the week even

Michigan State has concluded their spring break road trip in Greenville, South Carolina, on Sunday. The trip resulted in the Spartans going 2-2, picking up wins against Georgia and Western Michigan, while dropping games to Florida State and Illinois.

The Spartans and Fighting Illini battled it out on Sunday, in a nonconference affair. Illinois got the best of MSU, though, winning 12-6.

MSU will be back in Greenville next weekend for another weekend of games.

Michigan State baseball splits Saturday series in Greenville

MSU split their Saturday double header in Greenville

Michigan State is down in Greenville, South Carolina, for their annual spring break trip to Fluor Field. After a rainout on Friday, the Spartans got to work on Saturday.

In game one, MSU defeated Western Michigan, 13-3 in 8 innings, run ruling the Broncos. The Spartans bats were alive and well in the contest.

In game two, the bats cooled down for Michigan State, and the team could not keep pace with Florida State. MSU would drop the game, 11-2.

MSU will finish their weekend on Sunday, against Illinois, in a nonconference tilt.

MSU, WMU rained out on Friday

Michigan State is on their annual spring break trip to South Carolina, where the Spartans have a full docket of games scheduled. MSU started the trip with a huge win, on the road, against Georgia, and is looking to build off of that momentum.

The team was set to face Western Michigan on Friday, but mother nature had other plans. The game has been cancelled due to rain, and will be made up on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Michigan State baseball has dreadful opening weekend

MSU opened the 2024 season in rough fashion

Michigan State opened the 2024 season this past weekend, where the Spartans traveled to Charleston, South Carolina for a four game opening weekend.

The Spartans opened the weekend with a four game series against Merrimack, Seton Hall, Lehigh and Ball State. MSU went 1-3 in those four games.

Friday, Michigan State defeated Merrimack, 10-3. On Saturday, the Spartans lost to Seton Hall, 10-4, and Lehigh, 2-0. The weekend was capped on Sunday, with the Spartans losing 4-1 to Ball State.

Michigan State will be back in action next weekend, in Florida, for a trip to play Indiana State and Marshall.
