Former Michigan State punter Michael O’Shaughnessy commits to UNC Charlotte

Michigan State football had originally picked up Michael O’Shaughnessy as a transfer from Ohio State a year ago to become the starting punter of the future. That decision was obviously made before everyone found out how sensational freshman All-Conference punter Ryan Eckley would be.

In November, Michael O’Shaughnessy entered the portal to find his next stop, and on Tuesday, announced that he would be transferring to the University of North Carolina Charlotte.

Michigan State football has picked up a commitment from a former Ohio State Buckeye.

Punter Michael O’Shaughnessy announced on Wednesday that he has committed to Michigan State. O’Shaughnessy is a former Buckeye that entered the transfer portal in December.

O’Shaughnessy played four seasons for Ohio State but never saw much action on the field. He has one career punt for the Buckeyes but will have the opportunity to contend the starting punter spot with Bryce Baringer off to the NFL.
