MSU basketball transfer target Micah Parrish commits to San Diego State

One of the top transfer portal targets on Michigan State’s board has committed elsewhere

One of the top transfer portal targets on Michigan State’s board has committed elsewhere.

Micah Parrish — a forward from Oakland University — announced on Wednesday that he’s committed to continue his collegiate career at San Diego State. Parrish was considered by many to be one of the top targets considering Michigan State and even was projected to end up in the green-and-white on 247Sports.

Parrish averaged 12.1 points and 6 rebounds per game last year as a sophomore at Oakland and made the all-conference defensive team. He dropped 19 points against the Spartans in their non-conference matchup this past season.

It is unclear whether or not Michigan State officially extended an offer to Parrish or if there was just interest to this point. Parrish had visited Michigan State recently, and it appeared both sides were interested but apparently a commitment didn’t come into fruition.

REPORT: Michigan State basketball interested in Oakland transfer forward

Michigan State is reportedly interested in Oakland transfer forward

Michigan State basketball needs to fill some gaps in their roster this offseason via the transfer portal, and it looks like they are looking close to home to fill an opening on the wing. On Thursday, David Klein of SpartanHoops reported that the Spartans have interest in Oakland transfer Micah Parrish.

Parrish is a 6-foot-6 small forward who averaged 12.1 points and 6 rebounds per game last year as a sophomore and made the all-conference defensive team. He had 19 points and 8 rebounds against the Spartans in their lone match-up of the season.

Parrish is a polished defender who, while not a sharpshooter, is at least a willing shooter who averages around 35-percent beyond the arc and could be the plug-and-play option Izzo needs to fill the void left by Gabe Brown on the wing.
