Miami Heat at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Miami Heat at Portland Trail Blazers and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Portland Trail Blazers (14-22) host the Miami Heat (23-15) Wednesday at the Moda Center for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we look at the Heat vs. Trail Blazers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Miami has lost back-to-back road games to the Sacramento Kings 115-113 Sunday and at the Golden State Warriors 115-108 Monday.

Over the past two weeks, the Heat are 4-2 straight-up (SU), 2-4 ATS and 5-1 O/U with the ninth-best adjusted net rating at plus-3.8 points per 100 possessions, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Portland snapped its four-game losing skid by upsetting the Atlanta Hawks 136-131 as 4-point home underdogs Monday.

In the last 14 days, the Trail Blazers are 1-3 SU, 1-3 ATS and 3-1 O/U with the second-worst adjusted net rating at minus-17.1 points per 100 possessions, per CTG.

Heat at Trail Blazers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Trail Blazers 118, Heat 112

Money line

GIMME the TRAIL BLAZERS (+110) for 1 unit because the Heat (-135) are missing three starters and Dedmon and Vincent are Miami’s top-two players by adjusted on/off net rating (CTG).

Furthermore, I liked how Portland PG Anfernee Simons played when replacing Lillard in Monday’s game against Atlanta.

It’s hard not to like how Simons played considering he scored a career-high 43 points on 61.9% shooting (9-for-16 from behind the arc) with 7 assists.

Also, Lillard is too ball-dominant and hasn’t been shooting well from the field this year. I don’t think the absence of Lillard—especially given how he has played this season—is as big of a deal as the market seems to think.

In fact, according to Pregame.com, more than 90% of the cash at the time of publishing is on Miami, which has steamed the Heat up from a -120 favorite to the current price.

Lastly, I think this is a bit of a trap game for Miami who has played much better than Portland this season and has a very cheap price. It appears to me that the oddsmakers are daring us to bet on the Heat.

BET the TRAIL BLAZERS (+110).

Against the spread

Heavy “LEAN” to the TRAIL BLAZERS +2.5 (-112) as it gives some insurance on their money line at plus-money.

Over/Under

BET the OVER 216.5 (-108) for 1 unit because Miami has gone Over the total in six of its past seven games, including four straight.

On top of that, Portland has gone Over the total in three of its past four games and the Over is has cashed in five of the past seven Heat-Trail Blazers meetings.
