Only one game remains in the regular season for Florida, and that means the Gators are running out of opportunities to build their NCAA Tournament resume. After suffering a Quadrant 2 loss to Missouri, Joe Lunardi dropped them down a seed to No. 8, and in his latest update on Friday, they remained in the same position.
UF’s projected First Round opponent remains unchanged, as well. It’s still expected to draw nine-seeded UConn, and the region as a whole largely stayed the same as in the previous update. Illinois is still the No. 1 seed, and Alabama and Florida State are the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, respectively.
In fact, the bracket didn’t change much in general. Only seven teams saw their placement change. Missouri was one of them, as the Tigers continue to rise. The victory over Florida brought Mizzou to a No. 8 seed, and now it’s projected as a No. 7 seed.
Other league teams in the field are No. 3 Arkansas, No. 7 Tennessee and No. 9 LSU. The Gators close out the regular season on Sunday with a Quadrant 1 game against the Vols. If UF wants to avoid drawing a No. 1 seed in the Round of 32, it likely needs either a win over UT or a deep run in the SEC Tournament.
