Florida Gators men’s basketball has taken a bit of a tumble recently after a disappointing home loss to an underachieving South Carolina Gamecocks last Wednesday, as well as their second bout with the coronavirus this season. Subsequently, both the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll and the AP Poll booted UF from their top 25 rankings this week.
The more objective rankings have also soured on the Gators, unsurprisingly, and the most recent NCAA NET ratings released on Sunday saw Florida drop a spot since our last update on Friday. However, UF inexplicably inched back up a notch since the previous NET update as noted in the ratings chart below.
As it stands, the Gators are currently 2-3 in Quad 1 matchups, 4-0 in Quad 2, 3-2 in Quad 3 and 1-0 in Quad 4 play. That Quad 3 record seems to be holding Florida back more than its three Quad 1 losses and suggests that the team is dealing with some letdowns against inferior opponents.
