Gators News: Men’s basketball wins big over Vols, women’s swimming today

That Gators got a big win on the parquet Tuesday beating the highly-ranked Vols and the women’s swim team prepares for Senior Day.

We have reached the middle of another week and on this humpday, the Gator Nation has much to be excited about as the men’s basketball team — despite being significantly short-handed — scored its biggest win of the season last night at home against the Tennessee Volunteers, a top-10 team stacked with talent that just did not have any answers for the Gators in the O’Connell Center, 75-49.

The Gators led the game from the opening tip and got a balanced performance from its entire roster, earning their first true marquee win of the 2020-21 schedule. Florida had faltered in three of its four previous Southeastern Conference matchups after winning its first two and this win should go a long way in restoring some confidence to a shaken team.

In other Florida sports news, the No. 7 women’s swimming team hosts the North Florida Ospreys this afternoon for Senior Day, with events starting at 5 p.m. EST. 11 student-athletes will be honored for their tenure in the Orange and Blue ahead of the penultimate meet before the SEC Championships. UF is 1-0 all-time against UNF.
