Grizzlies at Spurs picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 118, Spurs 106

Moneyline

Even though the Grizzlies (-230) should be able to take care of business on the road, PASS on taking the moneyline in this game. The reward doesn’t justify the risk.

Against the spread

GRIZZLIES -5.5 (-110) is where I’m going in this game as Memphis is looking to bounce back following a narrow loss to Boston. The Spurs are looking like a team that is hoping to land Victor Wembanyama in next year’s NBA draft after a surprisingly strong start to the season.

The Grizzlies are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings with the Spurs and they are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings against them in San Antonio.

Over/Under

As much as I want to take the Over in this game, UNDER 233.5 (-105) is where I’m going. The Under has hit in Memphis’ last 2 outings and it missed the Over by at least 16 points in each of them.

The Under is 4-0 in the last 4 games for the Grizzlies when they face a team with a losing record and it’s 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between the Grizzlies and the Spurs.

Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (8-6) wrap up a two-game miniseries with the San Antonio Spurs (11-9) Monday at AT&T Center. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Spurs NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Grizzlies rolled the Spurs 129-112 in San Antonio Saturday. Memphis won three of four quarters and tied the other. The Grizz outshot the Spurs .654 to .548 in effective field-goal percentage. Memphis had its previous five games postponed due to COVID-19 issues but the Grizzlies are on a six-game winning streak dating back to Jan. 8.

San Antonio’s loss to Memphis Saturday snapped a three-game winning streak for the Spurs. They’re 3-3 straight up and against the spread over their last six games.

These teams split the first two meetings this season and Memphis is 3-3 SU and ATS since drafting last season’s Rookie of the Year PG Ja Morant.

Grizzlies at Spurs: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 115, Spurs 111

Money line (ML)

The Grizzlies-Spurs game Saturday was Memphis’ first following an 11-day layoff due to COVID-19 issues and the Grizzlies didn’t show any signs of rust.

It was a full-team effort for Memphis with seven players scoring in double figures and 60 points off the bench. Also, the Grizzlies score the most points in the paint in the Association while the Spurs are 23rd in opponent’s points in the paint.

Ultimately, I PASS with a lean on Grizzlies (+135) because as we’ve seen a lot already this season, it’s hard to beat the same team in consecutive games.

Against the spread (ATS)

GIMME GRIZZLIES +3.5 (-110) for 1 unit. Since the beginning of last season, the Spurs have the third-lowest cover percentage as a home favorite. While the Grizzlies are only .500 ATS as a road underdog, they do have a plus-4 ATS margin in these spots since last season.

Also, Morant has balled in the last six Grizzlies-Spurs meetings, averaging 23 points per game on 53.3% field-goal shooting which is his second-highest PPG against any team. There’s no question Morant can pick up the slack until his teammates clear health and safety protocols.

Over/Under (O/U)

Sheepishly, I’m going to follow the Over trend with Grizzlies-Spurs that has cashed in four of their last five contests. Memphis and Morant do such a good job spreading the ball around that it’s hard for mediocre defenses to stop them.

If Morant is going to continue to knife through San Antonio’s defense, the Grizzlies will keep getting good looks. Memphis’ style of attacking the paint and getting in transition should push Grizzlies-Spurs Over the total.

I’ll TAKE OVER 220.5 (-110) for a half-unit.

Grizzlies at Spurs: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Spurs 115, Grizzlies 110

Money line (ML)

Both teams are on winning streaks. The Grizzlies have won five in a row and the Spurs have won three straight. San Antonio is only 5-5 at home this season but all three of the wins in their current streak are at home. Memphis is 4-1 on the road.

However, this will be the Grizzlies’ first game after five straight games were postponed. The Spurs won the season-opening matchup between these two teams 131-119 in Memphis. Take the SPURS (-160) for the win,.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Spurs have the third-best cover percentage in the league at 63.2%. Memphis is right behind at 61.5%, but the Spurs beat the spread by an average of 2.8 points.

Memphis will have some rust not having played since January 18 and are missing some key players. The Spurs beat them earlier this season in Memphis. Take the SPURS -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

San Antonio’s games go Under more often than now, doing so in 57.9% of their games. Memphis is 4-9 O/U. However, three of the last four Grizzlies-Spurs games have gone for more than tonight’s total of 220.5 points. Take OVER 220.5 (-110).
