Grizzlies at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 118, Grizzlies 115

Moneyline

SPRINKLE TIMBERWOLVES (+130).

The Wolves are 16-10 straight up at home while Memphis is 11-14 straight up on the road. Both teams have won and covered on their home court this season.

Memphis has also lost 4 in a row, all on the road against Western Conference teams. The Griz return home after this game and may experience some fatigue as they wrap up a 5-game road trip.

Against the spread

BET TIMBERWOLVES +3.5 (-115).

The Grizzlies have been awful ATS in recent weeks, posting a 3-7 ATS record since Jan. 8. The Wolves are 6-4 ATS since that date, including 3-1 ATS at home.

Minnesota is top-10 in both offensive field goal percentage (49.2%, 4th) and defensive field goal percentage (46.7%, 9th), so it can play well on both ends of the court. Memphis, while flashy, ranks 20th in field goal percentage (47%) and 22nd in 3-point field goal percentage (34.9%). Its offense hasn’t been as dynamic, and on the road, it’s been even rougher.

Back the TIMBERWOLVES +3.5 (-115).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 238.5 (-110).

While both offenses seem like high-pace attacks, it makes the total almost unplayably high. In both games between these games, the total has ended under 220, with the first meeting hitting 217 (Nov. 11) and the latter hitting 210 (Nov. 30).

Like Friday, both previous meetings had a closing total over 230 points, and with the Wolves’ leading scorer still out and the Grizzlies’ most dominant rebounder out, back the UNDER 238.5 (-110).

Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks & predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Memphis Grizzlies (12-8) visit the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves (10-11) on Wednesday with tip-off from Target Center set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Grizzlies vs. Timberwolves odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Grizzlies are on 2-game winning streak after Sunday’s 127-123 win vs. the New York Knicks as half-point underdog. In that win it was G Ja Morant’s 27 points, along with all 4 other starters scoring in double figures,  that carried the Grizzlies to that tough win in New York.

The Timberwolves are on a 3-game losing streak with their most recent loss  Monday a 142-127 blowout against the Washington Wizards, That loss continued a season-long trend of Minnesota’s inability to stop any big man. Allowing C Kristaps Porzingis to drop 41 points while shooting 12-of-18 from the floor is unacceptable for this team that traded so much for former DPOY C Rudy Gobert.

Grizzlies at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 121, Timberwolves 108

Moneyline

BET GRIZZLIES -140.

The Grizzlies are simply a better team than the Timberwolves, who have looked terrible to start the season. They will have no answer for Morant and his scoring ability and with the obvious chemistry issues for this team they will likely continue their streak of poor play.

Against the spread

LEAN GRIZZLIES -2.5 (-110).

Even with key injuries in this game the Grizzlies should be able to win. Many NBA fans are calling for the Timberwolves to trade key pieces due to the team’s underwhelming performance, and I expect that type of performance to continue. This team hasn’t looked good so far, with G D’Angelo Russell playing at his worst rate since his 2nd year in the league, and the front court playing terribly as well, expect the Grizzlies to win this game comfortably.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 231.5 (-105).

Neither of these teams are particularly great or terrible on either offense or defense, in fact both teams are close to the middle of the pack in both. Both teams have tremendous scoring potential, especially in their backcourts, but neither team has been able to score consistently. Based on averages alone the under is safer than the over, but it’s close. With the Grizzlies averaging 115.7 ppg and the Timberwolves averaging 114.6 these teams are averaging just under 231.5.

Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves Game 6 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Memphis Grizzlies (3-2) visit the Target Center Friday to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves (2-3) in Game 6 of the first-round Western Conference playoff series. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Grizzlies vs. Timberwolves odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

While many thought this series would be over quickly, the Timberwolves, led by C Karl-Anthony Towns, have embraced the underdog role and come out on top twice. They won Game 1, riding high off their play-in win over the Los Angeles Clippers, and won Game 4. They lost Game 5 by 2 points.

While Towns is the most impactful, G Anthony Edwards is leading the team in scoring, averaging 24.2 points per game. Minnesota is 7-7 against the spread (ATS) as a home underdog.

Memphis has played well when traveling up north. The Grizzlies lost by 1 to Minnesota in Game 4 after beating them by 9 in Game 3.

While G Ja Morant was the league’s Most Improved Player, the Grizzlies have been led by G Desmond Bane, who is averaging 23.4 points per game. F Brandon Clarke has been impressive as well, notching 16.4 per game.

Grizzlies at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 114, Timberwolves 111

Money line

LEAN to the GRIZZLIES -117.

Simply put, the Grizzlies are the better team. The main difference between the Grizzlies and Timberwolves is the impressive Memphis defense. The Grizzlies ranked 6th in defensive rating during the regular season.

They were also the league’s best offensive rebounding team. As a series goes on, these impressive numbers start to show themselves more clearly.

Memphis was 13-8 ATS as a road favorite this season, so it plays well on the road. The Grizzlies are +8 at the Target Center in their 2 games this series.

With the last 2 games decided by 3 points, I’ll just lean to the Grizzlies as they’re the more proven side and have shown that all season long.

Against the spread

PASS.

This game should be a nail-biter, and I’d prefer the money line value here rather than getting the point on the spread.

Over/Under

BET the UNDER 228.5 (-108).

The Under has hit 3 times in this series, and this is going to be the lowest total yet. Almost 80% of the tickets per pregame.com at the time of writing are on the Over yet just around 65% of the cash is.

This total hasn’t moved though. The books haven’t adjusted it yet which means they’re comfortable with their stance despite not being risk-averse in this situation. I’d side with the books here.

The Wolves and Grizzlies are respectively 14th and 10th in the playoffs in shooting, which has made the drastically high pace not matter as much.

Both play at an ultra-fast pace, but if shots continue not to fall, the Under should still be the better bet, which it is in what could be a series-ending Game 6.

Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (20-45) host the Memphis Grizzlies (32-32) Wednesday at Target Center for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Timberwolves odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Memphis has lost back-to-back games and four of its last five (1-4 against the spread) with the latest being a 118-104 beatdown at home administered by the red-hot New York Knicks Monday.

Minnesota had its four-game winning streak snapped Saturday with a 140-136 overtime loss to the New Orleans Pelicans as 3.5-point home underdogs.

Memphis is going for the season sweep of Minnesota after winning the first two meetings by double digits. The Grizzlies have won and covered five straight against the T-Wolves.

The Grizzlies are all but a lock for the postseason play-in tournament as they are the 9-seed, 4.5 games back of the sixth-place Los Angeles Lakers and 3 games ahead of the 11-seed Pelicans.

Grizzlies at Timberwolves: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Timberwolves 122, Grizzlies 118

Money line (ML)

On paper, this is a terrible matchup for the T-Wolves (+125) who rank in the bottom-10 of several miscellaneous categories such as paint points per, second-chance points per and fast-break points per game whereas the Grizzlies (-150) are top-5 in all of those metrics.

However, doesn’t this Memphis price seem cheap given these edges? For me, it’s fairly obvious that bookmakers are trying to entice bettors into a trap.

My play here is a slight “LEAN” to the TIMBERWOLVES (+125) for a tiny wager if all because Minnesota has demonstrated it can rip defeat out of the jaws of victory and have blown late leads all year long.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

GIMME the TIMBERWOLVES +3 (-110) since we are seeing “reverse line movement” in the betting market and this is actually a good spot for Minnesota.

For instance, according to Pregame.com, more than 80% of the money wagered has been on the Grizzlies to cover, however, bookmakers have brought the line down from Memphis laying 3.5 points on the opener.

Furthermore, the T-Wolves are well-rested and 10-4-1 ATS when being spotted from 3-4.5 points.

Also, there’s questionable motivation for each team entering this game, but the T-Wolves have been a tough out over the past two weeks. The Grizzlies could definitely sleep on a Minnesota team they’ve owned in recent years.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 238.5 (-110) for a quarter unit because we are getting the same reverse line movement for the total as the ATS lines, and the Over has cashed in seven of Memphis’ last eight games.

Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (5-6) finish their two-game mini set with the Minnesota Timberwolves (3-8) Friday at the Target Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Timberwolves NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Grizzlies routed the Timberwolves 118-107 in their first meeting Wednesday. Memphis got easy looks and pounded the paint: The Grizzlies had 33 assists to just 7 turnovers and outscored the Timberwolves in the paint 80-44.

Memphis could finally get back second-year star PG Ja Morant who’s been out since spraining his ankle in a Dec. 28 game vs. the Brooklyn Nets. After losing four of their first five without Morant, the Grizzlies have rattled off three straight wins, covering in all three.

Minnesota has lost seven of its past 10 (8-2 against the spread) vs. Memphis, including four straight losses.

Grizzlies at Timberwolves: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 110, Timberwolves 108

Money line (ML)

Back-to-back games against the Timberwolves is just what a struggling Grizzlies’ offense needs. At the moment Memphis is ranked 27th in offensive rating, but the Grizzlies have scored at least 112 points in their last four games against a Minnesota defense ranked 29th in defensive rating.

Also, Timberwolves All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns doesn’t dominate his matchup—C Jonas Valančiūnas—like he needs to for Minnesota to beat Memphis. Valančiūnas’ team has won six of 10 games against KAT’s.

I’ll TAKE GRIZZLIES (+100) for a half-unit with the plan of betting them heavier to cover.

Against the spread (ATS)

BET the GRIZZLIES +1.5 (-115) for 1 unit just in case the Timberwolves squeak one out. Memphis has covered four of its five road games to start the season, and the Grizzlies have owned the Timberwolves in their recent history.

Over/Under (O/U)

Memphis has relied on its defense so far this year as seven of their 11 games have gone Under, and the Grizzles are ranked fourth in defensive rating. Also, there may be some value on bettors thinking the Timberwolves are going to play well on their home floor; the Under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Minnesota.

GIMME UNDER 224.5 (-110) for a half-unit.
