Alabama lands in top 7 for 2025 5-star SG Meleek Thomas

The Alabama Crimson Tide were recently listed as a finalist to land the commitment of 2025 five-star shooting guard Meleek Thomas.

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball program has had abundant success as of late on the recruiting trail. The coaching staff has done an excellent job of identifying prospects that fit the team’s needs and are equipped to play in Nate Oats’ system. One prospect that would fit Oats’ system is 2025 five-star shooting guard Meleek Thomas.

On Tuesday, the Pennsylvania native released his top schools list. One of the schools that was listed was Alabama. When asked by On3’s Joe Tipton about his thoughts on the Crimson Tide, Thomas had the following to say:

“They run a guard-heavy program. They’ve had a lot of guards come out of there. I like how they play, I’ve studied their play style and I’ve heard and asked around about their facilities and I’ve seen how they let their guards rock. So with all of that, they are a school that I want to take a visit and see more about.”

Thus far, Thomas has taken official visits to the Auburn Tigers, Pittsburgh Panthers, and UConn Huskies. Thomas has intentions to visit multiple schools in the near future. One of which includes Alabama.

An interesting thing to note is that Alabama is also a finalist for Thomas’ high school teammate Jasper Johnson. The two will suit up alongside one another for their senior season at Overtime Elite. Both are high on the Crimson Tide’s radar and are considered to be priority recruits.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest regarding the Alabama men’s basketball program and its efforts on the recruiting trail.

Five-star guard Meleek Thomas ‘intrigued’ by Auburn during recent visit

Auburn is in a heated race with three other programs for one of the best shooting guards from the 2025 class.

The state of Pennsylvania’s top recruit for the 2025 recruiting cycle was impressed with his recent visit to Auburn.

[autotag]Meleek Thomas[/autotag], a five-star shooting guard from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, traveled south to Auburn for his official visit recently and was pleased with [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag]’s desire to win. He also learned plenty about Auburn’s culture.

In a follow-up interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw, Thomas says he was “intrigued” by Auburn’s family atmosphere.

“I never really heard much of them growing up unless they had a big player, but they’re really a family down there. The players, the staff, the fans, everyone is just one. I never knew that,” Thomas said. “When I went down there, everything was just ‘Auburn basketball, Auburn basketball’. And they’re known for football, so to go down there and see so much Auburn basketball was just intriguing.”

Along with Auburn, Thomas has taken official visits to Kentucky and Pittsburgh. He is scheduled to visit UConn and Arkansas this month, and plans to scout Kansas, Tennessee, and Miami as well. He tells Shaw that he does not have a timeline for announcing his commitment, as he wants to find the right fit which includes a “genuine coaching staff” and “winning players.”
