Tennessee redshirt freshman linebacker to enter transfer portal

Tennessee linebacker enters the NCAA transfer portal.

Tennessee redshirt freshman linebacker Mekhi Bigelow intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens on Monday.

“After all the conversations and prayers, and my wonderful support system, I have made the decision to enter my name in the transfer portal with three years of eligibility,” Bigelow announced on Friday.

The 6-foot, 209-pound linebacker appeared in one game for the Vols across  2022-23. He made his debut against UConn on Nov. 4 and did not record any statistics. Bigelow redshirted and did not appear in any games for Tennessee during the 2022 campaign.

He came to Tennessee from Chambers High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mekhi Bigelow commits to Tennessee

Mekhi Bigelow commits to the Vols.

2022 prospect Mekhi Bigelow announced his commitment to Tennessee Wednesday.

“1,000 percent committed,” Bigelow announced.

The defensive end is from Julius L. Chambers High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Bigelow was teammates in high school with Tennessee edge rusher signee James Pearce. Pearce signed with the Vols during the early signing period in January.
