Strake Jesuit offensive tackle became the 18th commitment to the 2021 recruiting class. Max Merrill recently picked up an offer from coach Herb Hand and the Longhorns. It didn’t take long at all for him to commit to the university. The Longhorns offered Merrill a week after Arizona State. Just four days following the initial offer from Texas on Sept. 21, he now joins the next class of Longhorns.

In the 2021 class, Merrill joins Hayden Connor and Michael Myslinski as the offensive line commits from this class. Merrill is ranked as a three-star recruit and the 108th ranked offensive tackle in the country. He is ranked 195th overall in the state of Texas by 247Sports Composite. Not the highest touted player but neither was Samuel Cosmi when he came to Austin. Cosmi now viewed as a top tackle in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The 2021 Texas Longhorns recruiting class now ranks 16th in the country and second in the Big 12 Conference. The class is led by Ja’Tavion Sanders and Billy Bowman at the top. The Longhorns still have some spots left to fill, could L.J. Johnson be the next to commit to the Longhorns in their 2021 class?
