Max Christie should get his name called in Thursday’s NBA Draft but it may not be as high as he would like, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN.

Givony released an updated NBA mock draft ahead of Thursday night’s event, with Christie listed in the mock. He has Christie going in the second round to the Memphis Grizzlies with the No. 47 overall pick.

Christie was once projected as a potential lottery pick last year, but his stock slipped throughout the season and leading up to the NBA Draft. He averaged 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in his lone season with the Spartans last year.

Max Christie listed as mid-second round pick in post-combine mock NBA Draft from ESPN

It was a puzzling decision to some when Max Christie elected to remain in the NBA Draft, and those with that opinion are being supported by the latest mock draft from ESPN.

NBA Draft expert analyst Jonathan Givony has released an updated mock draft following the NBA Draft Combine and it doesn’t bode particularly well for Christie. Givony has Christie landing in the second round as the No. 45 overall pick.

Christie averaged 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds in his lone season with Michigan State this past year. He shot only 31.7 percent from three-point range, which was an area that many thought he could improve if he came back for another season with the Spartans.

Christie is considered to be a fringe first-round pick and this is only one mock draft so it doesn’t guarantee he’ll slip to the second round. But if he does, it would certainly prove he would have been better off coming back for another year in green-and-white to develop his game more.
