Matt Frevola ready for Michael Chandler, says ‘juiced to the gills’ Conor McGregor ‘ain’t fighting’

Add Matt Frevola to the list of rising UFC lightweights who want a crack at Michael Chandler.

Add [autotag]Matt Frevola[/autotag] to the list of rising UFC lightweights who want a crack at [autotag]Michael Chandler[/autotag].

Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) and Conor McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) are expected to fight after filming Season 31 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” which continues to air Tuesdays on ESPN until Aug. 15.

However, with McGregor yet to re-enter the U.S. Anti-Doping Ageny drug testing pool in which he’s required to be for six months, the fight still hangs in the balance. Frevola doubts the fight will happen, and if he can’t get Paddy Pimblett at Madison Square Garden in New York, he’ll turn his attention to Chandler.

“Let’s fight, that’s it. November MSG, but if you don’t want to sign on the line, I’m ready for Michael Chandler,” Frevola said in a video posted on Twitter. “McGregor ain’t fighting. Dude’s juiced to the gills, coked up, beating up girls. Michael Chandler, you can keep dreaming because you’re not fighting. But guess who you can fight at MSG? You can take your steamrolling like a man. I’ll give you a glorious death in the arena. Just what every gladiator wants, and I’ll give that to you. MSG, baby. I’ll see you soon. See you at the top.”

Frevola (11-3-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) has been on a roll, knocking out his past three opponents in a row in the first round – most recently Drew Dober in May at UFC 288. Like Frevola, the likes of Grant Dawson and Arman Tsarukyan are also eyeing Chandler and are under the impression that he won’t fight McGregor.

Matt Frevola: Nobody cares about Paddy Pimblett ‘fighting anybody else but me’

Matt Frevola sees no better option than himself to welcome Paddy Pimblett back to the UFC once he’s healthy.

[autotag]Matt Frevola[/autotag] sees no better option than himself to welcome [autotag]Paddy Pimblett[/autotag] back to the octagon.

Frevola (11-3-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) has called out Pimblett (20-3 MMA, 4-0 UFC) multiple times, but after knocking out his past three opponents in a row in the first round – most recently Drew Dober at UFC 288 – “The Steamrolla” has momentum on his side.

Like Frevola, numerous fighters want a piece of Pimblett, but Frevola explained why he’s the fight to make.

“Nobody cares about Paddy fighting anybody else but me,” Frevola told MMA Junkie Radio. “Nobody cares about him fighting Jared Gordon again. Nobody cares about him fighting some middle-of-the-rank guy. The people want to see him fight me, and that’s the fight to make.”

Frevola could be on to something after he got a response from Pimblett. “The Baddy” recently underwent ankle surgery and may be out for all of 2023 but said he’s willing to fight Frevola once he’s healthy.

“He already accepted it,” Frevola said. “He said I’m his easiest route to the top 15. That’s what they all think, so I’m glad that he thinks that. Everyone’s saying that I’m just gonna knock him out in the first round. I hope that he’s the fighter that I think he is, and he will want to prove everyone wrong and take this fight and earn some respect.

“It’s a win-win for the UFC. He wins, he gets the respect of the people, and he’s still the star. I win, I’m the guy. I think it’s a win-win, it’s a no-brainer that that’s the next fight, and it just comes down to when he’s ready. He’s got his ankle surgery. I think you give him a couple of weeks to start training again, and then he’ll know when he’s ready. Hopefully it’s MSG in November.”

Pimblett is coming off a controversial win over Jared Gordon last December. Prior to that, Pimblett scored three consecutive Performance of the Night finishes over Luigi Vendramini, Rodrigo Vargas, and Jordan Leavitt.

Paddy Pimblett says he’d fight Matt Frevola upon UFC return: ‘Probably the easiest route into the top 15’

Paddy Pimblett sees Matt Frevola as an easy ticket into the UFC lightweight rankings.

[autotag]Paddy Pimblett[/autotag] sees [autotag]Matt Frevola[/autotag] as an easy ticket into the UFC’s lightweight rankings.

Frevola (11-3-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) challenged Pimblett once again after knocking out Drew Dober in this past Saturday’s UFC 288 featured prelim at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., which marked Frevola’s third consecutive knockout.

“Paddy Pimblett, you absolutely suck,” Frevola said during his in-cage interview with Joe Rogan. “Stop being a b*tch and let’s fight. You’re on a four-fight win streak. I’m on a three-fight win streak. If you’re in the UFC, you can’t pick and choose your fights. You’ve got to fight who the fans want to see you fight.”

Frevola is one of many fighters to call out Pimblett (20-3 MMA, 4-0 UFC), who’s currently recovering from ankle surgery. But once Pimblett is cleared to compete, he appears open to fighting Frevola.

“Bit of a weird time to call me out when I can’t even train,” Pimblett responded in a recent Instagram post. “But (yes) I’d fight Frevola when I’m back, probably the easiest route into the top 15.”

However, Frevola will likely have to wait for a while. Pimblett recently said he’d be lucky to compete in 2023 and is yet to return to training.

“I’ll get back in the gym when I can pal,” Pimblett said. “For now, the doctors have told me I cannot train.”

Pimblett hasn’t competed since a controversial decision win over Jared Gordon last December at UFC 282. Prior to that, “The Baddy” earned bonuses for finishes over Luigi Vendramini, Rodrigo Vargas, and Jordan Leavitt.

UFC 288 video: Matt Frevola ‘death bombs’ Drew Dober, calls out ‘b*tch’ Paddy Pimblett

At UFC 288, Matt Frevola blasted Drew Dober with his fists, then blasted Paddy Pimblett on the microphone.

The New Jersey crowd was firmly behind [autotag]Matt Frevola[/autotag] on Saturday at UFC 288 – and in the end, he gave them something to cheer about.

In the featured preliminary card bout at Prudential Center in Newark, Frevola (11-3-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) finished [autotag]Drew Dober[/autotag] (26-12 MMA, 12-8 UFC) with punches at 4:08 of Round 1.

A massive right hand that Frevola later dubbed “the death bomb” sent Dober crashing to the canvas after approximately three-and-a-half minutes of a competitive quasi-kickboxing match. Bloodied on the canvas, Dober grabbed hold of his opponent. Frevola, however, continued to hammer away. Dober struggled to escape the punches, so much so that referee Herb Dean waved off the fight.

Dober protested the stoppage immediately, though commentator Joe Rogan said he was visibly woozy off-camera. By the time the official decision was read, Dober respectfully clapped for Frevola.

During his in-cage interview with Rogan, Frevola once again called out [autotag]Paddy Pimblett[/autotag] (20-3 MMA, 4-0 UFC), a matchup he’s publicly chased for over a year.

“Paddy Pimblett, you absolutely suck,” Frevola said. “Stop being a b*tch and let’s fight. You’re on a four-fight win streak. I’m on a three-fight win streak. If you’re in the UFC, you can’t pick and choose your fights. You’ve got to fight who the fans want to see you fight.”

Pimblett does not currently have a fight on the books as he recovers from surgery and subsequent complications.

Matt Frevola wants to be first to knock out Drew Dober in UFC: ‘I don’t lose dog fights’

We’ll find out if Matt Frevola or Drew Dober has more dog in him at UFC 288.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – [autotag]Matt Frevola[/autotag] is looking to make history at UFC 288.

Frevola (10-3-1 MMA, 4-3-1 UFC) faces [autotag]Drew Dober[/autotag] (26-11 MMA, 12-7 UFC) in Saturday’s featured prelim at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN/ESPN+.

Frevola is coming off back-to-back first-round knockouts of Genaro Valdez and Ottman Azaitar. In 19 UFC fights, Dober has never been stopped by strikes, and Frevola wants to be the first fighter to knock him out in the octagon.

“He’s never been knocked out before, so I’d love to go in there and do something that nobody’s ever done,” Frevola said Wednesday during UFC 288 media day. “My last two guys, I gave them their first loss, and I’d be ecstatic to go in there and give Dober his first knockout loss. … I know he’ll be there the whole time, so I’ve got to put him out and be calculated in there. That’s something we’ve really been working with.”

[lawrence-auto-related count=3 category=420030788]

Not only has Dober never been knocked out, he’s also tied with Dustin Poirier for most knockouts in UFC lightweight history. But Frevola is confident that he’ll win the battle of attrition.

“I was pumped when I got this fight because I’ve been a fan of his,” Frevola said. “I’ve been watching him from the beginning, and then being able to fight him now is a dream come true. He is a dog. He’s a dog, and I’m a dog. It’s gonna be a dog fight in there, and I don’t lose dog fights.”
