The Maryland Terrapins (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten) and the Indiana Hoosiers (4-0, 1-0) meet for a conference game at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (Big Ten Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Maryland vs. Indiana odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.
The forecast calls for temperatures in the mid-60’s and a 90% chance of precipitation, with winds 10-12 MPH, as the remnants from Hurricane Helene affect the area.
The Terrapins have won a pair of games on the road against the Virginia Cavaliers, and home to FCS Villanova Wildcats, since dropping the conference opener 27-24 against the Michigan State Spartans on Sept. 7 in College Park. Maryland was an 8.5-point favorite against Sparty, while the Over (44.5) cashed. The total has gone high at a 3-1 clip for UMd.
The Hoosiers have gotten off to a hot start, winning each of the 1st 4 games, while becoming the 1st FBS team to reach 200 points on the season. Indiana pounded Charlotte 52-14 at The Rock last Saturday, covering as a 28.5-point favorite as the Over (51) cashed.
Coach Curt Cignetti has brought his powerful offense from James Madison to Bloomington, and former Ohio Bobcats QB Kurtis Rourke has led the charge with a 75.5% completion percentage, 1,013 yards, 8 TDs and 0 INT.

Maryland at Indiana picks and predictions
Prediction
Indiana 31, Maryland 20
Moneyline
Indiana (-275) will set you back nearly 3 times your potential return, and that’s quite a bit of risk for not enough reward.
On the flip side, we haven’t seen much letup from the Hoosiers, and it’s hard to trust Maryland (+225) for the upset based on its loss to a mediocre Michigan State side earlier this season.
PASS.
Against the spread
INDIANA -7 (-110) is a strong play laying the touchdown, and, quite frankly, it’s surprising this number isn’t a little higher.
Maryland +7 (-110) has really struggled to stop the pass, allowing 247.0 yards per game through the air. That’s a problem against an Indiana side which has piled up 513.8 total yards per game, including 288.3 yards per game through the air.
And, IU has played tremendous defense, too, which Maryland will have much difficulty solving.
Over/Under
UNDER 52.5 (-110) is the lean, go very, very lightly, with a half-unit play at the absolute most.
While Indiana has scored 42 or more points in each of the past 3 outings, including the conference opener at UCLA on Sept. 14, it hasn’t had to contend with a driving rain this season. The remnants from Helene will make for slippery conditions, and might make for more of a ground-based attack. Indiana is solid running the ball, too, so that won’t be a problem for it.
Maryland has cashed high on the total in 3 of 4 games to date, too, including the loss to Michigan State in conference play. However, it has scored 27 or fewer points in 2 of the past 3 games, cashing low at Virginia. It will have some trouble running the ball, if the weather forces more of a ground-based attack.
