Marshall at Purdue picks and predictions

Prediction

Purdue 86, Marshall 68

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no way anyone should consider betting Purdue (-3000) at this price. That’s risking $3,000 to win $100 — not a wise strategy. However, when looking at the spread, things get more enticing.

Against the spread

BET PURDUE -19.5 (-110).

Purdue looks poised for a dominant rebound against Marshall Saturday following its loss to Marquette.

The Boilermakers, ranked 21st in KenPom’s efficiency margin (+20.79), face a Thundering Herd team ranked 166th (-0.50). With home-court advantage at Mackey Arena, Purdue’s elite 3-point shooting (43.8%, 8th nationally) and superior rebounding (51.4% vs. 49.3%) should pave the way for a blowout.

Marshall’s poor shooting from deep (29.0%, 298th) makes it hard to stay competitive.

Purdue should easily cover the 19.5-point spread.

Over/Under

BET OVER 149.5 (-110).

Both teams have the ability to light up the scoreboard.

Marshall averages 82.5 points per game (106th) and plays at an up-tempo pace, ranking 89th in adjusted tempo with 71 possessions per 40 minutes.

While Purdue’s defense is solid, ranking 59th in efficiency (97.9 points per 100 possessions), the Thundering Herd could still push into the upper 60s. If that happens, the Over should hit comfortably.

Both teams prioritize offense, making this an attractive spot for the over.
