The Providence Friars (21-12) take on the No. 10 Marquette Golden Eagles (24-8) Friday. Tip-off from Madison Square Garden is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Providence vs. Marquette odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Friars advanced to the semifinal round of the Big East Tournament by upsetting No. 8 Creighton 78-73 Thursday night. G Devin Carter recorded a double-double with 22 points, including 9-of-9 from the free-throw line, and 11 rebounds. The junior leads the conference in points per game (19.5) and was recently named Big East Player of the Year.

The Golden Eagles needed overtime to defeat Villanova 78-73 at MSG Thursday, covering as 4-point favorites. G Kam Jones paced Marquette with 18 points. G Tyler Kolek, who leads the nation in assists averaging 7.6 per game, missed Marquette’s tournament opener, as he continues to recover from an oblique injury.

This is the 3rd meeting between these schools this season. Providence was victorious 72-57 at home Dec. 19, cashing outright as a 4-point underdog. The Golden Eagles exacted revenge with a cover as 11.5-point favorites in a 91-69 win at home Feb. 28, although this was the game where Kolek sustained his injury.

Providence vs. Marquette picks and predictions

Prediction

Marquette 78, Providence 74

Moneyline

BET MARQUETTE (-200) IN A ML PARLAY.

Golden Eagles coach Shaka Smart has big game experience, plus he certainly has a skillset for drawing up inbounds plays — even if they don’t count. Pairing MARQUETTE (-200) with ARIZONA (-670) vs. Oregon in a 2-leg moneyline parlay at -138 is much more feasible than laying 2 dollars in a solo bet.

Against the spread

BET PROVIDENCE +4.5 (-110).

Providence coach Kim English petitioned for his team to be in consideration for the NCAA Tournament after the Creighton win, asserting that it did not have a bad loss.

While it did fall to Marquette by 22 in the last meeting, the Friars’ worst Big East loss was against Xavier more than 2 months ago, and their only out-of-conference defeats came against No. 19 Oklahoma and Kansas State before the New Year.

This team has grown up and competed against big-time opponents since then, so expect Providence to hang tough until the final minute or so.

Over/Under

BET OVER 139.5 (-110).

An 11-5 turnover advantage was 1 of the big reasons Marquette was able to outlast Villanova in the quarterfinals. Only Depaul (13.6) and Seton Hall (12.8) averaged more turnovers per game than Providence (12.2), so expect the Golden Eagles to be able to get a good number of points in transition. Plus, 3 of the last 4 meetings dating back to Dec. 2022 have gone over the total.
