2024 FSU running back commit gets offer from Florida staff

The Gators are looking to poach this top 2024 wide running back target from the ‘Noles.

Billy Napier and his staff are continuing to build relationships with players, despite their commitment status.

[autotag]Kameron Davis[/autotag], a 2024 RB committed to Florida State, was recently offered by Napier after completing a workout with Gators associate head coach [autotag]Jabbar Juluke[/autotag]. Shortly before the dead period, the No. 2 running back in the 2024 class, according to the On3 consensus, was in Gainesville on a college tour where he came away impressed by the atmosphere around the university and Hogtown itself.

The 5-foot-9-inch, 205-pound Albany, Georgia, native isn’t short of suitors, though. Despite being committed to Florida State, programs including Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Miami and Oregon are attempting to test the strength of Davis’ nearly year and a half commitment to the ‘Noles.

It’ll be interesting to see if Napier can flip another high-profile recruit since taking over as Florida’s head coach. Back in December, he flipped 2022 four-star safety [autotag]Devin Moore[/autotag] from Notre Dame on signing day and earlier this month managed to flip 2023 four-star quarterback [autotag]Markus Stokes[/autotag] from Penn State.

Those players were vital for Napier’s reputation on the recruiting trail, but flipping a top running back from your biggest in-state rival who has been committed for over a year? Well, that would be the reverse Dalvin Cook.

Florida football jumps up in ESPN’s latest recruiting rankings

The Gators broke the top 20 in ESPN’s latest recruiting rankings after landing multiple 4-star recruits.

Following the commitment of four-star quarterback [autotag]Markus Stokes[/autotag] and four-star running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag], Florida jumped five spots in ESPN’s 2023 recruiting rankings

Coming in at No. 17, the Gators are quietly building a solid recruiting class in [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag]’s first full cycle as Florida coach. The new head coach’s strategy of keeping talent inside the state seems to be working, with 10 of the Gators’ 12 commitments hailing from the Sunshine State.

Florida’s 2023 class is highlighted by [autotag]Eugene Wilson III[/autotag]. The 5-foot-11-inch, 165-pound athlete is considered to be a top-30 player in the state of Florida according to 247Sports. The Gaither (Tampa, Florida) standout is the latest in a group of players to commit to the program, announcing his commitment on July 8.

The Gators will almost certainly continue to rise in the recruiting rankings. They are in the running to land Cormani McLain, a consensus top-five player in the country (No. 2, On3; No. 3, ESPN & 247Sports). After a visit to Gainesville in April, the Lakeland cornerback said his decision is down to Alabama and Florida.

McLain’s decision, along with [autotag]Derrick LeBlanc[/autotag]’s, [autotag]Will Norman[/autotag]’s and [autotag]Daquayvious Sorey[/autotag]’s, among others, will go a long way towards showing players and fans alike that the future of Florida football is bright.

Gators jump in recruiting rankings after recent commitments

Florida got a huge boost in the recruiting rankings on Thursday and will likely climb even higher by the beginning of next week.

Fresh off the heels of two high-profile Thursday commitments, the Florida Gators have risen in 247Sports’ 2023 team recruiting rankings.

After waking up ranked 43rd in the country, the Gators went to bed Thursday night with the 26th overall recruiting class. It started with Napier flipping four-star quarterback recruit [autotag]Markus Stokes[/autotag] from Penn State. The 6-foot-2-inch, 185-pound signal-caller out of Nease High School (same high school that [autotag]Tim Tebow[/autotag] played at) in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, was a morale boost for the Florida fanbase after missing out on blue-chip QB [autotag]Jaden Rashada[/autotag] just one week ago. Flipping a quarterback prospect just up the road from Gainesville from a top-tier program like the Nittany Lions’ did a lot for the perception of the program.

The Gators also landed the services of four-star running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag]. The Jacksonville native plays his high school football at Trinity Christian Academy and committed to the Gators shortly after Stokes announced he had flipped programs. The 6-foot-1-inch, 205-pound ball-carrier chose the Gators over Penn State and South Carolina, where he was being recruited by former Florida coaches Ja’Juan Seider (Penn State) and Torrian Gray (South Carolina).

These rankings came out before four-star athlete [autotag]Eugene Wilson III[/autotag] chose to commit to the Gators over Texas A&M on Friday afternoon. The Gators are expected to rise in the rankings even more after Wilson III’s commitment, with the potential to secure more commitments over the weekend.
