Mark Melancon’s had himself a near-perfect postseason — just one unearned run in the playoffs and he induced A.J. Pollock into a contest-ending groundout on Tuesday night that clinched Game 2 of the NLCS for the Atlanta Braves over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He’s also made headlines for catching two home runs from his teammate Ozzie Albies in Games 1 and 2, which is all sorts of fun, and now, the attention is on a non-answer he gave to a strange question about the Braves taking a 2-0 lead.
A reporter asked him if he could take a positive out of the Braves surviving Game 2 and nearly allowed a furious Dodgers comeback, which confused Melancon, probably because the positive is the fact that the Braves are up two games to none on the Dodgers’ juggernaut. The pitcher responded, “I think that’s a terrible question, I’m not even going to answer it.”
Awful question. Deserved the response it got by Melancon. pic.twitter.com/T3qoTsAZx9

Meanwhile, here are Melancon’s two big catches and Melancon’s response:
The homers were great. The pitching performances by the starters were great. But the moment of the night was Mark Melancon catching Ozzie Albies’ ninth inning bomb while he was warming up to close this one out. pic.twitter.com/xSvQPgs7BQ
