Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Seattle Mariners (13-22) and Los Angeles Angels (12-22) are scheduled for the third of a four-game set at Angel Stadium on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET. We analyze the Mariners-Angels MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Mariners at Angels: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Justin Dunn vs. RHP Griffin Canning

Dunn has been a bit erratic this season, going 2-1 with a 5.57 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 15 strikeouts across 21 innings over his five appearances.

  • Dunn has faced the Angels twice already, combining for 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA, seven walks and three homers allowed.
  • The right-hander has posted a pair of quality starts, including his last outing Aug. 23, both against the Texas Rangers.

Canning has recorded an unseemly 0-3 record, 4.88 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 23 strikeouts across 27 2/3 innings in his six outings.

  • Canning posted his only quality start of 2020 on Aug. 1 in a no-decision against the Houston Astros. Since then, he has allowed at least three earned runs in each of his past four outings while failing to record more than 4 2/3 innings.
  • Canning has served up five home runs in 13 1/3 innings across his past three starts.

Prediction

Mariners 7, Angels 5

Moneyline (ML)

The MARINERS (+160) are worth a look as moderate ‘dogs in this one. Dunn has posted a quality start in two of his previous three outings. Canning is just too inconsistent for the Angels (-182) and cannot be trusted as the starting pitcher for the favorite.

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Mariners returns a profit of $16.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Mariners (+1.5, -129) are not a terrible play on the run line, but backing them straight-up is the best bet. A good rule of thumb is to avoid the underdog on the run line, almost 99 percent of the time. The Angels (-1.5, +105) can also be ignored; they won’t win with Canning on the bump, let alone by two runs. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 10 (-110) is an attractive play; Dunn is hittable, and I’ve picked on Canning enough above. The over is 2-1 in the latter’s past three starts, while also going 3-2 in Dunn’s five outings.

Mariners at Angels: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Justus Sheffield vs. RHP Dylan Bundy

Sheffield owns a 2-2 record, 3.51 ERA And 23 strikeouts across 25 2/3 innings over five starts.

  • Sheffield was knocked around for four earned runs, four hits and four walks over three innings in a loss against the Angels in his initial outing of the season on July 28.
  • Sheffield struggled earlier in the season, but he has posted three consecutive quality starts dating back to Aug. 9.

Bundy enters with a 3-2 record, 2.58 ERA and 44 strikeouts across six starts with one complete game.

  • Bundy is 1-1 with a 2.40 ERA and .151 opponent batting average over 15 innings in two starts against the Mariners this season.
  • Bundy’s lone complete game was against the M’s on Aug. 6 in Seattle, allowing a run, four hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts in a 107-pitch effort.

Prediction

Angels 4, Mariners 3

Moneyline (ML)

The ANGELS (-176) won Friday’s series opener by a 3-2 count, and you can expect the home side to come out on top in another well-pitched game in this one. The Mariners (+155) have one of their most steady pitchers going, but the Halos take this one.

New to sports betting? A winning $17.60 bet on the Angels (-176) returns a profit of $10.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Angels (-1.5, +115) won the series opener by one run, and they’ll likely do the same in this one. The Mariners (+1.5, -139) are expensive if you want insurance. AVOID THE RUN LINE.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 8.5 (-110) hit in Game 1, snapping a four-game over streak for the Angels. Still, the under is 3-1 in the past four meetings against the Mariners. Sheffield and Bundy have been running hot, so expect another lower-scoring battle.

Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Seattle Mariners (13-20) and Los Angeles Angels (10-22) are scheduled to start a four-game wraparound series at Angel Stadium Friday with a 9:40 p.m. ET first pitch. We analyze the Mariners-Angels MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Mariners at Angels: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Nick Margevicius vs. LHP Andrew Heaney

Margevicius has a 1-1 record, 4.12 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 18 strikeouts across 19 2/3 innings in three starts and three relief appearances this season.

  • Margevicius allowed four earned runs, six hits and a walk with a season-high seven strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a win over the Texas Rangers Aug. 21.
  • Margevicius made a relief appearance against the Angels earlier this season, allowing a solo home run and a single with one strikeout in two innings back on July 29.

Heaney enters play with a 1-1 record, 5.52 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 31 strikeouts across 29 1/3 innings over six starts.

  • Heaney is 1-0 with a 2.53 ERA and .216 opponent batting average in 10 2/3 innings in two starts against the Mariners this season.

Prediction

Angels 7, Mariners 4

Moneyline (ML)

The Mariners (+170) split a Thursday doubleheader at the San Diego Padres, while the ANGELS (-189) were off. Take the more rested team, and also back the Halos since Heaney already has racked up a win against the M’s this season. In fact, L.A. is 1-5 in his six starts this season but won with him on the hill against Seattle Aug. 4.

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Angels returns a profit of $5.29, while a $10 wager on the Mariners fetches a return of $17 if they prevail.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Go lightly on the ANGELS (-1.5, +105). While they have just 10 wins this season, six of the victories have been by two or more runs. Three of those wins by two or more runs have been against the Mariners (+1.5, -125), a team they seem to match up well against.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 9 (-110) is worth a small-unit play. The Angels have been very giving, posting a 5.41 ERA to rank 28th in the majors, while the Mariners are just ahead of them with a 5.37 ERA to rank 27th. The pitchers will help some rather mediocre offenses look like world beaters in this one.
