The Minnesota Vikings waived Marcus Sayles in the process of adding linebacker Hardy Nickerson earlier this offseason.
Sayles is still a free agent, but the Vikings, a team that has dealt with plenty of injuries already, has brought Sayles in for a visit.
I don’t think the cornerback would be a starter or anything, but if he signs, it could help the Vikings. Cornerbacks Holton Hill, Mike Hughes and Cameron Dantzler continue to struggle to stay healthy at times, so Sayles could earn reps on the Minnesota defense.
Sayles picked up West Division all-star accolades while playing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers en route to a 2019 Grey Cup victory.
The Vikings also lost safety/cornerback George Iloka to an ACL injury, according to multiple reports. That makes the secondary, an already-thin position group, even thinner.
