Michigan State football offers 2024 DL Marcus Downs

MSU has extended an offer to a prospect on the DL in the 2024 recruiting class

Michigan State is continuing to expand their 2024 recruiting board, and this time on the defensive line. The Spartans extended an offer to defensive lineman Marcus Downs. Downs is a Greer, South Carolina, native attending Riverside High School. According to 247Sports and On3, Downs is a high 3-star prospect.

Downs holds notable offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Auburn is a finalist for 3-star DL Marcus Downs

The Tigers are firmly in the mix for the talented defensive lineman from South Carolina.

Auburn is looking to land its first commitment along the defensive line but defensive line coach [autotag]Jeremy Garrett[/autotag] has the Tigers in a great place with several top targets.

One of them is three-star [autotag]Marcus Downs[/autotag] who announced his final five schools on Tuesday. The Greer, South Carolina product included Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Georgia.

Downs visited Auburn back in April and the Tigers are now working to get him back on campus for an official visit. The 6-foot-5, 260-pounder has the ability to play all across the defensive line, something that Garret and the rest of Auburn’s coaching staff value.

He is the No. 553 overall player and No. 54 defensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 8 player from South Carolina.

Georgia makes top-five for South Carolina’s No. 1 ranked defensive lineman

The Georgia Bulldogs made the top five for South Carolina’s top-ranked defensive lineman, Marcus Downs.

Downs is a three-star lineman in the class of 2024 from Riverside High School in Greer, South Carolina.

Georgia is joined by TennesseeAuburn, Georgia Tech and North Carolina in his top five, which he released to Twitter on Tuesday.

According to 247Sports composite, Downs ranks as the nation’s No. 553 overall player, the No. 54 defensive lineman in America and the No. 8 player in the state of South Carolina.

The 6-foot-5, 260 pound lineman was offered by UGA on Jan. 30.

Downs recorded 36 tackles, three tackles for a loss, one sack and three pass breakups during his junior season en route to earning all-region honors.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive lineman is from Riverside High School in Taylors, South Carolina.

Downs is the No. 477 overall prospect and No. 41 defensive lineman in the class of 2024. He ranks as the No. 1 defensive lineman and No. 7 player in South Carolina, according to On3 industry rankings.

Downs earned 2-AAAA all-region honors last season. He finished his junior season with 36 tackles, three tackles for a loss, one sack and three pass breakups.

He received an offer from the Vols two days after attending Tennessee’s junior day on March 4.

Downs is flying under the radar as far as recruiting sites are concerned, but he is drawing attention from multiple college coaches. He currently has 17 total D-I offers.

Film Analysis: Downs stars as a defensive lineman for the Warriors and wreaks havoc on opposing quarterbacks due to a combination of his speed and power. Look for him to fly up the recruiting boards soon.
