Peyton Manning throws some friendly shade at Bruce Arians

NFL legend Peyton Manning spoke to 104.3 The Fan in Denver about Bucs coach Bruce Arians and their time together in Indy with the Colts.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians came out of retirement last year to try and get Jameis Winston’s career back on track. While 2019 saw Winston lead the NFL in passing yards with 5,109, it also saw him lead the league in interceptions with a jaw-dropping 30.

But it’s not the first time an Arians pupil neared the 30-interception mark. Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning had Arians as his quarterbacks coach when he first arrived in Indianapolis with the Colts in 1998. Manning threw 28 interceptions as a rookie as the Colts stumbled to a 3-13 record.

Fortunately, for Manning, those 28 picks were the most he’d ever collect in one season. Still, he seems to believe Arians should take some responsibility, which he made clear on 104.3 The Fan in Denver yesterday, all in good fun of course.

I wonder if Winston wants Arians to take some responsibility, too?

Peyton Manning says Bucs are ‘going to win the Super Bowl for sure’

NFL great Peyton Manning talked on 104.3 The Fan in Denver today about Tom Brady and his decision to go to the Buccaneers.

For the better part of his 20-year career, Tom Brady’s most heated rival in the NFL was Peyton Manning. The two quarterbacks routinely found their teams pitted against each other in championship games, and like Manning, Brady is looking to finish his career with a team other than the one that drafted him.

Manning, who was the first overall pick by the Colts in 1998, left Indy in 2012 and joined the Denver Broncos, where he eventually helped guide the team to a victory in Super Bowl 50. Manning proved that you can change teams late in your career and still find championship success. Brady will now look to emulate Manning and become the second quarterback ever to win Super Bowls with multiple teams.

Manning spoke on 104.3 The Fan in Denver yesterday and was asked what advice he’d give Brady.

There you have it. The Bucs are going to win the Super Bowl!

OK, not really, but it definitely pushes Tampa Bay from wild-card contender to Super Bowl contender, at least on paper.

Manning, who worked with Bruce Arians during their time together in Indianapolis, also talked about what Brady can expect from the coaching staff in Tampa.
