When pro wrestlers leave the business, sometimes it’s out of sight, out of mind. That’s not the case with former NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose, who remains the subject of fascination among wrestling fans.
Rose was a surprising release by WWE last December, with news of her departure coming just a day after she dropped the NXT title to Roxanne Perez. Though WWE never officially confirmed the reason for her release, it was widely reported that it was due to the content on her FanTime page, which the company felt was “outside of the parameters” of her contract.
Though Rose has made it clear that she’s doing fine financially, she’s young enough at age 33 that many assumed she’d make her way back to pro wrestling. But as the one-year anniversary of her WWE release nears, she doesn’t appear to be in a hurry to do so.
Case in point: When asked by fans during a recent Instagram Q&A, Rose made it clear that she doesn’t miss the schedule and the constant travel (h/t Fightful for the transcription).
I don’t know when I’ll be returning to the ring. Not really sure if I’ll be returning to the ring. Not really sure if I’m not going to be returning to the ring. It’s really up in the air. I know it’s not the best answer, but it’s all I can say right now. I am enjoying my life, my freedom, my time. When you’re wrestling and on the road, it takes a toll on you, and I have to be committed to that if I want to get back into it, so we’ll see. I was on the road for like eight years and it was a blessing.
She added that it would take “the right phone calls” to come her way to consider joining AEW or Impact/TNA. That’s consistent with what she’s said earlier this year about the possibility.
Still, Rose hasn’t closed the door completely on returning to wrestling, so fans are going to keep pondering it. At least she can take some satisfaction in the idea that people enjoyed her in-ring work enough to keep hoping they will see it again.
